thinking of buying an m305

welcome to the addiction and new hobby.
As others have already said, read the stickies thoroughly and check your rifle over well. Get to know it inside and out as you clean and lubricate it.

Don't buy anything new for it just yet. Just get used to it in stock form first.

However, I suggest getting the castle nut pliers and the gas cylinder lock wrench as must-have tools

Hi markus, welcome to the M-14 family. Not a guru but you can PM me if there's anything I can do to help you getting started with the M-14. Read all you can on it's safe operation and maintenance, here's the first place to start especially if you are unfamiliar with rifle's in general and M-14 type rifles in particular.

Eaglenester's advice would be the first thing I would show you on the range with your new rifle. This is a good practice with any center- fire semi- auto rifle in general, but a very must on your M-14 with it's free floating firing pin.
 
1) DA SOCOM 18 with a TRS-25 in a Scout configuration, Sadlak extended mag release, Dlask forward rail, and a Voodoo cheek riser.

2) My full length with a USGI big red birch stock, vented handguard and faux selector switch.

You can get some cool stuff for these rifles :)

Welcome to the M-14 club. No clinics that I know of. Fredericton in 2013 was last I believe in this region. The stickies above are a must read for new M-14 owner's and stay tuned on the Battle Rifle forum itself. The longer you have the rifle, the more relevant the discussions become. Hey, you East Coast guys have a pile of M14 experience out there! :eek:

No kidding... there are some experts out there but they are likely inactive or have moved on to other projects! :evil:

One of these September(s) I am gonna drive out there and stay at Mike Duffy's cottage... or at least have my picture :p taken right in front! I can do selfies. :evil:

And then I can do a clinic while I am out there! Hey, I can visit Peirecce..... :cool:

Hard to say. I will mention it to the store and see if they can make that happen. The one I had was only verrrrrrrrry slightly under indexed. Not a massive fix for me
