Tikka Model 65 in 300 Win Mag?

Ted, I had an M65 Deluxe in .30/06... it was a very well made rifle, handling and cycling were very nice... but during the recoil cycle the stock economics caused the stock to rise up into my face, particularly in bench or prone positions... not so much when you are standing straight up... I debated on shimming or altering the stock for a better fit, but in the end bought an M77 in /06 instead and sent the M65 to another home... actually, of a co-worker, who still uses it as his primary moose rifle.

I do not have one in 300 win mag, but have a 55 Deluxe in 243 and a 65 Deluxe in 270.
Many believe these were the best Tikka ever produced.....All done prior to Sako takeover when Tikka competed pretty much directly with Sako....Both located in Finland. (There is one gunnutz here who does not like them, but he seems to be a minority of one).
The actions are very smooth and the adjustable trigger is excellent in my opinion.
Both my rifles shoot "lights out".......The 270 has about the best wood I have seen on a non custom rifle.....I have oil finishes on both.
They are not lightweight rifles........They have about the right weight to make them steady in the hands of a good rifleman.
If you decide to acquire one, it may not be your last one !!

How many replies to this thread thus far? Four comments, three mention recoil... again, I attribute this solely to the stock ergonomics... IMO the M55/65 are nice rifles.

I had two in 7mm, and a few m55's, the recoil pads are hockey pucks, I put a grind to fit on one and made a world of difference,
Great rifles I just preferred the lighter T3

The gunnutz I was referring to had some negative things to say about the action/receiver sections of these models in a much older thread here....Not recoil issues which tend to be a little subjective.
