$1,000.00 to spend for what new handgun?

Around a $1000 retail... and they're absolutely stunning! Plus, a fantastic pistol.
 
If I had that amount I'd get a nice old school Colt .45 SA Army.
Nice quality bare bones reproduction model. Then hopefully enough left over to get some ammo.
There's something so bad ass about them. I'm not much of a hand gun guy (only own a Makarov) but a nice Colt SAA is on my list of "will own one some day" :D
Crazy powerfull and very accurate with a longer barrel.
 
OP, you need to chime in and narrow the field. There are too many guns in that $ range. Would be better if you mentioned a few guns that you like and we give our opinions on them then leaving it open.
Someone will come along and suggest a " plasma rifle in the 40watt range" soon! Although they won't be a $1000!
 
Polymer, steel, stainless? Currently I'm saving up for a pistol I could try ipsc with. Leaning towards a cz sp01 shadow. I saw some nice German sig trade ins for $800 locally that look good too. M&p range kits go for pretty cheap but personally I have a hard time warming up to polymer
