I just bought a used RAR in 270 on the EE. Came with a Prairie Hunter with scales. I didnt know about the checkering when I bought it. Was very pleased with the stock overall. I think these rifles are worth the stock upgrade.
Everything over $30 from the US is subject to tax & handling fee ($10)... but in my experience, more than half come through without have taxes levied... something like 55/45... the fees will come on a customs form attached to the parcel and are payable when you pick up the parcel at the P.O.
I put a boyds stock on my axis and I haven't looked back its a 243 and I went with a bit of a custom checkering but worth every penny

Also... the standard honeycomb Boyd's pad does a pretty good job with recoil... I am not a Limbsaver fan, they work but are too "floppy and sloppy" aesthetically speaking for my taste... I have order a number of stocks with the Decelerator for heavier recoiling rifles and was happy with them (@ + $30).... but for the most part, I syick with the Boyd's factory pad.
What are the differences between the prairie hunter and classic stocks?
We still have lots in our yard. Saint John got 14' (FOURTEEN) of snow this winter. <barf>Hey what's that white stuff in the background?
Does the boyd's make it feel very heavy? I have one in ..243 and the fact that it only weighs 6.25 lbs, is one of the reasons i bought it.I just bought a used RAR in 270 on the EE. This is me standing beside the woodpile in snowshoes in early March. This is not a drift and the wood is piled up 4'.

I have another one on the EE, NIB RAR that is.SuperCub that's a nice looking rifle, I'm thinking of picking up a RAR and that stock is convincing me I should.
Im going to order a boyds stock shortly and am trying to figure out exactly what I want.
I have a few questions:
1) Looking for info on stippling/checkering/scales. Which did you pick and why? I know I want to get one of these but I can't decide which one.
2) How is the Boyds recoil pad? Are they any good or is $30 extra for a Limbsaver or Decelerator money well spent?
3) With regards to length of pull, when it says standard length is 13.75" that is with the recoil pad attached right?
Thanks.
