So took my newly acquired SKS out for the second time, and have a serious problem.
First time out i put 100 rounds through it, no issues, noticed the trigger was extremely soft compared to my other one and suspected mr dremal might have visited it in the past, either way no issues for first 100 rounds, that was last weekend. Took it home, cleaned it, took it out again today.
Now today i get out to my shooting spot load 2 rounds into it(always start with 2, thank god) and pull the charge handle and as soon as it snapped forward it fired the first then the second round immediately, my finger was not on the trigger and the safety was in the on position. Scared the #### outta me but luckily i have good muzzle control and was pointed downrange.
Note i disassembled the bolt last weekend to clean it and the firing pin was not in any way stuck or gummed up and rattled very freely, i checked this today before loading it. Firing pin was also at the back of the bolt not the forward position when i released the charge handle i visually inspected it right before i released the charge handle.
Tested it with one more round and same thing, fired as soon as bolt was in forward position, again safety on, finger off trigger.
Tested it with one round but i eased the bolt VERY SLOWLYforward into position instead of letting the spring do it, didnt fire, pulled trigger with safety on, didnt fire. Turned safety off and pulled trigger and it fired normally.
Strange i thought, maybe its the spring, as this SKS seems almost new and the main spring is at least 4 times stronger than my other sks, so figured maybe it was just hitting the round into the chamber to hard and causing it to fire, a long shot i know but i swaped the spring with my other sks's much weaker spring and it did the same thing, fired immediately upon bolt closing so not the issue.
Now i suspected the trigger was malfunctioning. So i swapped the trigger with my other SKS. Loaded a round, and pulled the charge handle and all was well, locked forward but didnt fire. I then proceeded to load one round at a time for 30 rounds and didnt once have a issue, problem solved, trigger was the issue.
Just for ####s and giggles i put the malfunctioning trigger into my old SKS with the weak spring and it did the same thing, fired immediately, so double confirmed trigger is issue.
So my question is what could cause this? keeping in mind it worked fine for 100 rounds last weekend then went sideways on me today.
Im about to take the trigger apart and will post pics once its disassembled. I need to fully clean both guns first and there is a hockey game tonight so might be tomorrow before i can post pics.
Thanks guys.
