hand held ballistics calculator

just discovered that Ballistic has a truing option. I have played around with it at home to figure it out, but im getting some interesting MVs when I plug in data. The app has been awesome otherwise, just hoping to make use of this feature.

Does anyone know how to properly use this?

Anyone here use Applied Ballistics? Debating 'weather' it's worth all the extra money?

I have it on my Galaxy.

It is basically a re-branded "shooter" with a tiny bit extra options. It uses the same operating system (menus, layout, etc) as Shooter.

I'm not convinced it is worth the extra 20$ but it works.

Where it is worth it though is that the Applied Ballistics program is develped by Bryan Litz. If you have any questions on the app or ballistics in general, you can contact him personally and he emails you right back. That is pretty cool.

Does an "App" have tohave internet connection to work?

Not typically.

Most ballistics apps work fully without internet but have features where you can load local weather data based on your gps location. That part requires internet connection. If you have the info to add your own Baro, alt, wind, etc then there is zero need for any data connection.

Dissapointed in Shooter + Kestrel

So I finally got my Kestrel 4500 with blue tooth thinking I could hook it to my android with shooter for real time solutions including wind direction. Unfortunately, the kestrel plug-in for Shooter takes a snap shot of what the Kestrel is reading and then brings you to the solution.

Does anyone know of any app (iPhone, BB, or Android) that can give real time and constantly refreshing solutions that include shooter and wind direction? I'd like to just set this thing up on a tripod and not have to plug in numbers when it's time to take the shot!

Thanks

What do you want to know? You just enter in your actual drops for 2 or more known distances, along with the range that you're zero'd at, and it corrects for your actual muzzle velocity, assuming accurate BC and atmospheric inputs. You can select different input settings, and can choose to enter your drop data in inches, MOA, or MIL. You can also enter absolute drop (36 inches at 500 yards), or relative drop (your drop table says it should drop 34" but it actually drops 36" at 500 yards, so you enter "-2").

iSnipe and Ballistic on the iPhone for me, with the nod towards iSnipe. While the range log in Ballistic is nice, I find that I just take pictures of my targets with notes written on them now, plus Ballistic never seems to be able to find my location for automatic entry of atmospheric variables.

Shooter looks interesting also, but even with multiple thousands into firearms and ammunition, I'm too cheap to spring another $10 for it.

try to change your iphone gps setting. it will let Ballistic find you that way, i believe it is a common way for programs to use the iphone location settings for their applications

Yes I picked one up, I love it. Once you true it up it's good to go. It's rather fast to use once you played with it for bit.
