hey . im thinking of geting the Mossberg 715T Flat Top Tactical 22 LR as a plinking gun . anybody have experiance with it . is it any good . hows build quality etc

no probs with mine, runs like a top it don't like win bulk stuff {555 333 222} other than that works great, have heard some people have some trouble with the original ones cant confirm or deny that however the 715t my daughter and I use and bought about a year and a half ago runs beautifully

I used one for a while, while I was was considering buying one, I was not impressed. Beond the plastic shell and walmart airsoft feel, I found the mag was difficult to remove, i didn't like the trigger, and the stock had side to side play. Ended up going with the ruger instead. Twice the price but 3 times the quality. Make sure you handle one before buying.

Picked one up last summer and love it. Added a reflex sight and magpul fore grip to it and enjoy it at both the indoor and outdoor range. Haven't had any issues with the magazines. Have both the 10 round short mag and the 10 round that looks like the original 25. Has eaten everything I've fed it. Great little tacticool plinking rifle.

They are hit and miss, some are great mine was just a waste of money. I'd say spend a little more and get a 10/22 ruger.

Yep. I had both versions and they were great. Outshot a stock 10/22 any day!
However takedown and cleaning is the pain.
Sold both for that reason.
If you dont like plastic, dont buy it!

I like mine just fine. I have had no FTF and I only spray oiled it on receipt. I have shot 10/22's that misfire does that make them all POS? I don't think so. Maybe you got a lemon but for the $219 I paid for mine Canadian happy with it. Just wish I had a 25 round mag with it as it fires through 10 in a hurry... I wouldn't pay $500 for one but if you get a deal like Milarm has had for $219 Can plus $20 shipping do it..

We still have some in stock too!

I have one. Terrible build quality. Have to run the rear sight all the way to the left to get a straight shot. I'll consider putting it on the EE for you. Retail + 35% + SH + stupid tax.

Mine was absolutely horrible. I really don't have enough bad things to say about the 715T I had. I'm sure others are decent but I hated the mags, stock, accuracy and it was always having some kind of FTF or FTE. I tried several things to remedy my issues with it but in the end I got tired of fighting to get it to function decently. For me personally the worst part was bringing new shooters and having to clear an issue 1-2 times on average per mag.

I tried a minimum of a dozen different types of 22lr and some functioned better than others but nothing would seem to do well. We also tried different mags, multiple cleanings, checked for sharp edges/burrs/rough surfaces that the rounds might get stuck on.

I gave up on mine around the 1,000 round point.

I have one also, and other than some problems mentioned earlier in this thread, it's been really good. I had to bring the rear sight all the way to right to index on target, but once I did that I got great little groups at 50 yds. I only use CCI mini mags and I've never had any problems with function. The mags are a little finicky to remove, and it is a pain in the butt to disassemble for a thorough cleaning, but just a good quality spray lube and you can probably get by with 500 rounds + before you have to do a complete tear down. I took the picatinny rails off the sides of the forestock and it's more comfortable that way. Mainly, my little nephew who is a small 10 yr. old loves it because I can shorten the stock to give him the correct length of pull, it's light and handy, and it has a good "cool" factor.
Personally, I like it a lot, but where you put your money is ultimately your call.

I wish I had read this thread before buying aswell. I had to buy new sights because I had to drift the rear sight more to the left than the factory sight would allow me to do.

What did you guys expect for $275? Ive even seen it on sale for less.

I would recommend against buying one due to the build quality alone . Even if it did run well I cant see it holding up for an extended period of time .

Nothings broken on mine, got it years ago when they were first showing up in country.

Still have it and I'm well into 80k rounds through it and everything is all good.

Ya it jams up occasionally but it is a rimfire after all.

+35c to -15C still kept going bang bang.

I can cut blades of grass with mine at 50 yards all day and hit same 10x12" steel plate at 200 yards non stop.

Ya it is made cheaply as hell but I've respected it and haven't stripped anything yet, but I also completely butchered my carry handle model into a flat top heh.

I bought one as an impulse buy. It was accurate and didn't jam once in about 500 rounds I put through it. The one thing I couldn't stand was how cheap it felt. I sold it about 6months ago. Tonight I went into cabelas and asked to see an SR-22. I ended up coming home with it. Does this rifle ever feel good.

I was interested in it at one point, price was right and just wanted a plinker... but I couldn't find a single good review on it so I passed. I saw one on sale for like $250 but still wouldn't buy it.
