I'm looking for a budget over under 12 GA. I would love to buy a Berretta but cannot put 3K on this gun. I was looking at a Turkish Yildiz or a Russian Baikal. Stoeger might also be an option. What is the best bang for the buck?

Basically for trap/skeet shooting but not on a regular basis.

Thanks for your input!

Very interested in this also, a break gun would be so much nicer for trap. My cursory search suggests the Yildiz may be hit or miss, love to hear from an owner.

Cheap double guns rarely work out to be cheap in the long run.
I would avoid the stoeger, due to my personal experiences carrying one that was not reliable at all.
Baikal's are among the best of the budget double guns and right there with them is the CZ/Huglu guns, and Yildiz not too far behind.
If you want a "cheap" dedicated clays gun look at a semi.

i only have experience with the Baikal, it belonged to my old man over 25 years old and still going strong but it's seen less than 500 rounds. Overall i like it, the fit and finish is good and it's never had any issues, but being that it's my dads shotgun i'm letting emotion blurr my opinion.

I have a Baikal 20ga with ported barrels and screw in chokes and a 410 with fixed. both are really nice for trap, skeet and the money.

I was looking for a sub-$1000 gun to replace my single shot and picked up a CZ O/U from Wolverines for just over $600 and shot a couple rounds of trap with it this past Saturday.

Only 1 week of ownership but I am very happy with the gun. I can't imagine finding a better value. I handled a few Baikals and IGAs before opting for the Canvasback. The others might be just as good (I never shot the Baikal/IGAs) but can say I'd recommend the CZ to a friend.

Baikal, CZ, Yildiz make decent guns for the money, another but harder to find is Akkar. Mine has been serving weekly skeet & trap duty since October without a hiccup. Baikal would be the toughest & heavist of the bunch, Russians build guns the same way they build tanks, ugly, heavy, unrefined, and always goes bang when you want it to.

Does the Akkar have wood furniture?

I think I've seen CZ Mallards for ~$625. Can a used B-gun or equivalent even be found for those dollars?

Yes, if you look. I had a Beretta S57E. It was an older over/under but it was all hand engraved with nickel finished receiver and was a very nice gun. It was under $600.00 and will out last any that have been mentioned.

The term "furniture" when applied to a gun refers to barrel straps, escutcheons, trigger guards, and assorted small metal parts. Modern guns have steel furniture. Old trade guns and flintlocks employed brass. The earliest examples of European guns may have used wooden blocks to clamp the barrel to the stocks...

You are right, however I understood the actual question being asked and answered it. The Action is stainless, the barrels are black chrome & chrome bores surrounded by Turkish Walnut.
