Private Land with permission

Instead of petitioning for De-Restricting the AR, how about going for something easier for the crown to swallow , ie - if you have access to private land out side of a major city then you should be able to "Target shoot ONLY " with a restricted firearm. Not on crown land and no hunting but safe , responsible plinking out at the farm.
 
Indeed a newbie question. I would say in that case, 911 will be ringing off the hook.

Restricted means only at the range. Making up a law, specifically for the AR to say that you can shoot it in special additional places doesn't make sense.
With the current glacial movement of pro-gun legislation, nothing significant will happen until the Lib/NDP alliance prohibit them.

the whole classification of firearms needs to be changed full stop.
simplification of the laws please,no more complicated paragraphs of nonsense and restrictions............please

I had a Colt Sporter Match H-Bar that I bought in '91and had a couple of years of fun with it before going restricted.
Just figured I'd throw that in there to make the younger guys jealous...:p
 
You really think civil servants will agree that changing a law that has been 'on the books' since 1935 and is designed to, um, restrict the use of handguns, et al, is a good idea?
In any case, the whole access to private land thing is completely Provincial while changing the status of a firearm is Federal. Means that where you are matters.
And there are far more important issues.
 
AR in "AR-15" stands for Armalite Rifle. Colt started selling the semi automatic version for civilians. AR-15 is a registered trade marl of Colt
