Korean M1 Garands green light.

Hot Dang! There must be gold in them thar Koreeeean hills!

(sung to the the tune of Beverly Hillbillies' theme music)

Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Jed.
A poor gun seller, barely kept his family fed,
And then one day he was drivin' in his car,
And ran across a crate of some surplus gun parts,

Korean M1 parts that is, Garand gold, glory be.

The next thing you know, old Jed's a millionaire, the kin folk said "Jed move away from there" They said "Koreeea's the place ya ought to be", so he loaded up the truck and he moved across the sea.

Koreeean hills that is, army motor pools, milsurp depots and seedy bars.

(hillbilly banjo solo now cuts in)

Yep Jethro, looks like thar could be millions to made from these Koreeean Garands.

Hilarious!!!

Yeah, this is getting ridiculous now. You'd think this was a game show where everyone is trying to guess what the potential selling price for a mystery beat-up rifle is.
Do the crystal ball readers out there think you're gonna get points for guessing right?
$220? No? $700? $1200? Do I hear $1300? Going once, twice,...
"Yes Johnny, show him what's behind Door #1 for that correct guess."

It's all mental masturbation, based on,... nothing. There is no precedent for these kinds of rifles being brought in, since they'll likely be in a sorrier state than anything you've seen before. So enough of the quack-science of attempting to predict their price without even knowing what you're getting. What a load of horse dung. Sheesh.

This is the same rumour/rehashed news article that keep resurfacing. They are not coming, primarily because they are U.S. Government property. It won't change until there is a government change in the states.

US has ban on importing US guns supplied to allies. Canada is not part of it. Canada could buy those guns years ago. I guess nobody bothered.

Everyone circlejerks about the Garand until they have to pay for .30-06.

My guess is, if they make it into Canada, they'd go for $1000-1500 because it's still cheaper than buying a Garand that's already in country or building one.

I am happy these are returning to the U.S. since this might provide more Garands for James River Armory to make new again.

Article is from 2012, Obama has since banned that Importation and none are coming.

Hmmmm might wanna read the report again...
"Such is the state of gun laws in the United States. At least we’ll soon see some cheap (well used) M1 Garand rifles on the market. I hope.

Update 27-4-2015, this appears to be a story from 2012 and the import has been blocked by the Obama administration. Sorry folks!"

Had a good chuckle reading this thread. The Korean Garands story seems to have more legs than the 9/11 conspiracy theories. People were talking about those Garands when I joined CGN 10+ years ago.

How many are monitoring this thread purely in hopes that John will come in and deliver one of his epic bolded smackdowns upon the greatest armchair expert in the thread?

Gods I love those...

Because WWII surplus Garands, that weigh 9lbs, are long and almost impossible to conceal, fire expensive ammo, and are finicky about it, are the gun of choice for your average gang banger.

Or maybe he's just waiting for Crapco to go out of business, to preserve the integrity of the last stockpile of them.
