Best Air Pistol for around $100

For what?

It matters.

IMO the best CO2 pistol is likely a Crosman 150. If you need new, a 2240, a direct descendant of the 150.

For sheer practical cheap shooting, a Crosman 1322, or 1377, multi-pump pneumatic.

Those might not fit your needs though.

I got a Crosman 1377 and a 22 cal conversion for it. Then again I put a stock on it, upgrade valve and piston, transfer port, trigger. Steel breech kit.

2240 is just the C02 version of the 1377/22, I had one hit hard.

I have recently been looking at air pistols also, I was sold on the multi pump Crossman 1322 - .22 so I can just shoot the same pellets as my rifles, and pump because I hate the damn CO2's...

but then I came across a lot of reviews for the single pump Beeman P17 / B3 and I think I'm going to go that route! and its super cheap.. $50!

Soft trigger, slippery plastic grip to it,VERY hard push down 25# piston. Stock up on seals because they go. Rear Sight easily moved and very tight quarters to inset a pellet ( cannot directly inset a pellet, only gives you 3/4" of a inch to stick a finger up and try and load a pellet )

^perfect advice. I've had lots of airguns come/go over the years...but still shoot the 1377 I got for my 16th birthday. 30 years ago! lol Seals have been done 2-3 times, but still hits hard. For CO2, a 2240 is the way to go. Had one, sold it for some reason...planning on getting another.

For a repeating handgun I would go with the Crossman Vigilante 10shot 177 revolver $65 - $90. I have one and it's decent enough. I also have a better revolver a Umarex S&W 586 but that will set you back $300.

The P17 is a great gun for the money. It has it's flaws though. The seals do go, but cheap and easy to fix (under $2). Usually a one time thing if you clean up the cause of the failure.
Trigger is a beauty.
People that pay $200 for the original don't mind the plastic grips! If they areslippery a piece of bicycle inner tube over he grip gives you Gorilla like grip!

I went to my first and only field target match with this gun. I tied for 3rd, had a shoot out with a guy shooting a gun that must of cost 10X or more than mine! I got intimidated and finished 4th!

F' it, I'm going to buy both...

Thanks trevj, just for plinking and scaring the squirrels away from the bird feeder.

Take a look at the 2289 model from Crosman too.

I would stick to .22 cal, simply for the extra energy, as you are limited to under 500 fps in a pistol. Heavier pellet at same speed, equals more energy downrange.

The 2289 has a longer barrel and comes with the shoulder stock that costs extra if you buy it for the 1322/1377 models. WalMart and Ctire typically carry a selection of Crosman guns in stock.
Heck, not even sure they are still making the 2289 or not. But anyways...

needed a squirell gun, A non firearm just under 500 ft. per second 22 pellot gun . harder hitting than 177. can`t use a firearm in the area here . so did alot of reserch and for price , choose crossman pump pistol 22/black. you all know the one and for a bout 80 bucks all said and done . im qwite impressed , 2 inch groups at 50 ft. drops squirell qwick and blows threw a pain`t can front and back. Not bad for a non firearm. ps seting the cheap sights , little difficult after that your golden

Think the Benjamin NP Trail is a good buy, I'm partial to springers,
Powerful, accurate, single pump.
Can be had for $99

I've taken a few grouse with mine...headshots of course. Also lent it to a neighbor to rid himself of a problem squirrel.
