NAA.

Sorry to bring up bad memories, at least I cant be accused of not using the search function. :D

I definitely haven't discounted kimber yet tho!

I think that the original owner of the gun should be ashamed of himself for buying a gun that was obviously defective. Some pretty obvious things that should be checked when buying a 1911 were clearly not checked.

That said, I checked mine out, and I have nothing remotely close to that low standard of tolerances, quite tight in fact, and the groupings show it.

My .02.

Of the couple dozen 1911's I've owned and enjoyed...Colts, Norincos, Auto Ordnance, Springfield, Para Ordnance, STI, Kimber, S&W...the Kimber Gold Match II was the nicest of the bunch, in every way with the S&W 1911 a close second.

Colt, S&W, Dan Wesson, Norc would be my choices! I was ready to buy a Custom Target in SS a few months ago but after handling one I was not impressed. I wasnt ready to spend 1500 plus on any of the others so Norc was the way to go. I ended up getting a Norc and a Ruger Redhawk for the same price I was gonna spend on the damn Kimber. Dan Wesson bobtail will probably be the next one on my list.

The only way to get a 100% reliable and very well finished gun is to get a custom one from a very reputable company. And then we are talking $3K+. Otherwise, get reasonably good one and customize it yourself or with a known gunsmith's help just like you get new suspension on your car or bike or so...

Oh, and for buying Series 80? I got no sympathy for you....

New or used? Why are you dealing with the problem? Ask the dealer or seller for your money back and then ask them to bend over. You get screwed by some fool and the Kimber haters line up for the parade.

So that's a five year old and a seven year old thread bumped by the same guy. Dude, there's no need to bump these-- members will see the original post, provide a helpful answer not seeing the original date, not realizing that the original poster had his question answered literally years ago. It wastes everyone's time.
