Python pricing

I had a nickel 6" 30 yrs ago, so I've always kept an eye since selling mine years 25 years ago, I don't really believe the Rick Grimes thing, they've been EXPENSIVE for a lot longer than the Walking Dead has been around. I think that the nice ones are becoming fewer and far between, hence the people trying to sell for super inflated prices, can't really blame them, if someone has a bag of loot and five grand is a drop in the bucket, what the heck, the seller just has to hold out for one of those buyers.

Sounds reasonable. Was there a jump in prices after TWD came out?

Unless the clones say "Colt" they'll always be..... clones. It's no fun at the range ..... "wow is that a Python !! ??", "no it's just like it though"

I don't personally shoot clones...but look how popular Norinco is up here? People swear by them and like to (at least try) convince others they are better then the original Sig, Colt, CZ, Browning, ect.

PS. Shooting at the range should be about having fun, not impressing strangers with your expensive hardware!!!

Since Colt USA is in danger of bankruptcy and possibly even going away forever...

...coupled with the fact the Python was discontinued due to high number of manual operations by skilled labor to make it...

We won't ever see new Pythons by Colt.

I guess not impossible... but highly unlikely.

Comparing 1980 price to today is not realistic
$ 2,500.00 today is equal to about $850.00 in 1980 if inflation taken into account.
So are they really overpriced??
I suppose some are but.......??

I don't think anyone is saying a 2500-3K python is over priced. but 5-6K for a blued 8"?

I think people who buy these guns are going to get a big surprise oneday. I have seen this kind of thing before many times. The guns will come back down to what they should be and not the stupid inflated prices that people are paying.

But it is there money so they can do what they want with it I guess. Someone once said a fool and money are soon parted.

Just my two cents worth.

I heard the same thing about the late 60s muscle cars...you know, the Hemi Cudas and the Chargers, Shelby Cobras and all, waiting for the price of those to come back down to what they should be so I can afford one, once all the fools decide to sell for a fraction of their investment. Still waiting....and waiting......

You are correct about some of the cars like the Hemi Cuda's and some of the Shelby's. A whole lot of people got a taste of reality when they bought ordinary mustangs and Camaros from places like Barrett Jackson and found a few years later they couldn't get anywhere near what they had paid for them.

Everything and that includes Pythons come back down sooner or later. Look at the housing market in the US. We all know where that ended up.

It's almost like the GTA housing market! Folks who held back buying 4-5 years ago...... are not too thrilled with that call. Python prices may or may not cool for a period of time but 3 or 4 years from now I'm betting todays prices will look like deals. Start stocking up on S+W 27 and 29's !!

I will never be a good customer for neither a clone or a high price revolver to keep as a collection piece... I choose my Ruger Redhawk 4.2 and my Model 29 to shoot and dont care about a cylinder drag line... JP.

It's convenient having zero interest in collecting. Pythons really aren't that special. I shot one a few times and wasn't any more accurate than I am with any other revolver. Nice trigger but you don't have to pay an insanely inflated price to get that. Besides, the cylinder release is ass backwards.
