Market for reproduction svt 40 and milsurp gunstock

Reproduction stocks...IMHO you wasting your time with the SVT stock option. You can still find whole rifles for as low as $280 (yes...prices are increasing) and someone makes repro stocks SVT stocks in Poland at or below the price point you mentioned.

The money is in hard to find wood or wood that is always increasing in value - currently SVT wood is not hard to find.

Examples:
Proper laminated repro G/K43 Stock - some examples out there but they sell $350 US + and original sets go for $500+
Johnson Automatic Wood - repro wood sells for $300+, original wood is like hens teeth and most original stocks are cracked.
P14 & P17 wood - usually starts at $80+ and is getting harder to find all the time.
Enfield III or No4 wood (if cost was below $200 would sell well) - this wood would be in high demand - original good wood is hard to find and usually $150+
Ross Rifle wood - non-existent
Garand/M305 wood - at the right price this wood sell - lots of wood down south if priced right guys would avoid the hassle of US export/import.

The above rifles are commonly sporterized or wood is damaged and original wood is pricey or like finding hens teeth - so there would be a good market.

There is a gent in Alberta that makes great looking reproduction stocks but again IMHO - they are a lot of hand fitting and too expensive.

Just like any marked - find a product that is in demand and find a price point that can maintain demand maintain revenue profits.

Ok and no one would buy a modern reproduction because it would be 1000$ or 2000$ for a early semi-auto which is in comparison to many modern semi-autos unreliable and difficult to assemble or disassemble (at least in comparison to most modern designs). A modern reproduction would also have no history and therefore lose that portion of the market.

Don't get me wrong I love milsurps and I have a special place for Russian firearms in particular but just because something could be worth 1000's of dollars doesn't mean it is. One of my favourite rifles, the K31 is only 300$ even though if manufactured new it would cost a small fortune. Based on what the market cost currently most people will likely prefer to buy a other SVT-40 at the moment than a new stock for it.
 
Watch out... its amazing how cheap minded people can be lol they will only start to except the price of a quality crafted hard wood stock, AFTER they attempt to make one their self.
 
Youtube gunstock duplicator. This is one of the commercial options for doing this. It is doable but you got to sell quite a few stocks to pay for the setup and your time. Somebody is doing it, I just wished I knew that somebody! Remember you get what you pay for. You cant start to think a replacement stock is going to be 'X' until you see the size of the production run and cost in time and materials. Several hundred dollars would not be an unreasonable starting point. America does not have this gun (SVT 40)in any large number leaving us frugal Canadians to carry the cost of production. That being said i wish I could buy an Laminated AVT Navy Stock in a Smoky ash stain for under $100 :)
 
Well take the sks for an example, many people stick 2-3 time of its value into customizing it and to them its worth. personally i feel that way about my svt 40 the is just nothing on the market for them, maybe repro stocks wouldn't be worth my time but maybe custom design ones would sell better, l'd buy accressories for it if they were available, I believe the svt 40 and sks are worth more then they sell for thanks to excessive market supply. Take the Enfield for an instance they used to be a dime a dozen buy now they are worth a lot since the surplus ran out, one day the Russian surplus will also dry up

It's only worth what people are willing to pay for it and that's between $299 and $350. Maybe more for certain years or arsenals, snipers always command higher prices.
 
After watching an svt fired in slow motion on youtube and seeing how much flex it has, Ive always wondered if accuracy could be improved by adding a stiffer stock like a laminate or hardwood with an internal aluminum rail inside.

Yes! I've been tinkering with the idea of an SVT40, but only if I could find a custom stock for it.
