Sheep Shooter

Not familiar with the Swarovskys RJ..........they screwed a friend of mine around many years ago and refused to warranty his brand new scope. I swore then I would never, ever buy a Swarovsky product and I haven't, so I can not comment on that scope in comparison to my Diavaris and Leups.

Fair Enough we all have our opinions and reasons . :) RJ

Used the same rifle for years for everything. It accounted for like 6 sheep - mine and other's. It always worked. Handloaded 120 gn TTSX at 3450 FPS put sheep down real hard. Still hate a detachable mag on a sheep gun though, and I just sold mine.

This is my sheep rifle, a Husqvarna in 270 Winchester.

It was built more than fifty years ago, and will still put a magazine full into five inches at three hundred meters.

Nice, Ted. That's exactly the gun I inherited and replaced my Tikka with. Mine weighs around 8 lbs with a 3-9 bushnell and Burris steel rings though. Debating putting a compact scope and lighter weight rings on, but haven't bothered yet.

About a pound and a half lighter than;)my model 3000 Husqvarna in 270 Win.

However, your 270 is about the same weight as the model 4000 Husqvarna light weight in 30-06 I inherited when my Dad passed away.

I've never used it on Sheep, but it 'got the call' a few years ago on my first Mule Deer hunt on draw in Alberta with my Daughter & Son In Law.

Looks like a nice start there BC, I appreciate the benefits of stainless/synthetic but prefer a more traditional tool myself .....
Ruger 7x57, Husqvarna .270, Winchester 30-30

Up here I havn't found light gathering ability to be an issue.

:)Great photos!! Thanks for sharing.

The formula for determining light exiting to the pupil remains the same - Objective divided by power.
The eye can only receive 7 mm of light so the "my scope is brighter than your scope" argument should be viewed in side by side comparisons.
SESS - Same Eye Same Situation.

Right on, correct.
However, there are apparently a lot of shooters who are unaware of the simple formula.

Yes I love traditional looking rifles as well but wanted something extra durable for BC's harsh climate especially here on the island when deer hunting..

This is my other beauty.. Ruger M77 Hawkeye 30-06
