How come we never see any real SUT/LI training with SKS's ?

Several people/companies like Max Velocity, John Mosby etc. offering excellent civilian training for small unit tactic/light infantry skills.

Of course the standard is some AR variant and I get that.

However, there are many people out there who want to prepare but will never be able to afford a battle rifle (and the large amount of ammo to train with) beyond an SKS with fixed mag, strippers and a Chinese chest rig.

Common sense says you would rather have these people in the fight and TRAINED with what they have than not in fight at all.

We all know there are many old school gun competitions but thats obviously not what I'm referring to.

This is not meant to stir up a bunch of silly responses so please do not turn it into that.

It would be nice to see one of these cats like Max Velocity offer a course amongst all his courses restricted to the SKS for those who can only afford that platform.

Point being a squad of well trained men with SKS's can still do a lot of damage or put up a serious resistance if/when the need ever arises.

Any respectful thoughts? Someone else must have had this thought before ..
 
It's just your skills with rifle, has nothing to do with "small unit tactic/light infantry skills". There is no difference how you move and what you do regardless what weapon you have. You just have to know your rifle and understand its limitations and specifics. If the training is focusing on weapon then it's weapon training, not tactical training for small units. Weapon specific tricks is the most minor part of the training.

Well aware of all this Horilka.
Point being the SKS handles much differently and its quirks/limitations obviously would need to be incorporated into the rest of it.

Also, missing the point.
Some people will only ever be able to afford a $200 ChiCom SKS and a $20 Chinese chest rig with strippers.

Did you really think I was referring to a one hour class to get someone up and running? Really now, if you can't see the value in the question please refrain from flappin'.
 
Just take your rig to a course and run it.

If your hoping that someone will run a course based around the SKS, well, good luck.

I'd take (and have) lots of guns over the SKS too, again thats not the point.

Not everyone who wants to prepare themselves have the same financial reality as others with decked out AR's and the like.

How cow, its not a complicated question to understand people.

Nothing wrong with thinking about how to make something more efficient for people who cannot afford all the kool kid toys. If a little focus was put on something like this I have no doubt people could figure out ways to make the platform more effective to run.
 
If someone can only afford an sks, chicom bandolier and a crate of ammo. Can they then afford to take tactical weapons courses?

That's your answer most likely as to why sks specific courses aren't offered, cannon fodder is always needed I guess!

Maybe the course is budget priced like all the equipment? HAH

But seriously, skills and drills nights at shooting ranges happen often and I'm sure a club could host their own SKS only night if they wanted.

I'd for sure be very interested in that sort of event.

I disagree. Any decent training course, with a GOOD instructor can accommodate whatever you are running. Heck, most second and third world militias hardly run better than that today. Even some "modern" armies run about the same level of gear, like the Afghanis. Good training is always a better investment than optimum gear. you can make do with crappy gear if you have quality training, and upgrade as you get the resources. Not so easy vice versa.
