Autorama (Ottawa)

So the 2015 "debut year" of my 166 is here and for the first of season car show myself and another CGNer attended to carry the flag for the MilVehs. So with two war dated jeeps (a Ford GPW and a Willys MB) and the schwimmer we got set up and awaited the crowds that where rather underwhelming. I found it a steady trickle of very interested people in the cars and even met a couple of CGNers.

Met kooky lady (with French accent) who lost it on her two boys trying to take a pic of the MG34. I thought she was loosing it out of respect for kids touching shiny cars so I told her I was fine with the boys touching the MG and taking a picture of it, then she lit me up. I felt sorry for the two boys because you could actually see them deflate under her ranting. Generally had good intelligent questions about just about anything MV and firearms related and besides the crazy "anti gun mom" only had some hipster jerk calling everything Nazi this and Nazi that...........what a tool.

It looked like a very nice display there, the local Legion had some nice Jeeps and anti aircraft guns on display here last weekend. Its always neat to see the stuff restored back to its original condition again.

Thanks for the kind words. I also make it a bit of a fetish to be 100% accurate, right down to the war dated steel cased rounds for the MG (not that anyone can see them but I know they are there).

At Autorama on Sunday I (or rather my car) was approached and carded by a rep for MASC Idol 2015 to be one of the 20 participants for that competition at Autoshowgatineau. I think I will "go for it" as first prize is five days in Las Vegas and SEMA.

When and where was this held?

I never even heard about it until now.

Would have liked to go as I had nothing going on last weekend.

Bet the shovel would have cured the tool...and make a satisfying BONG when applied. And the mom needed paddling.............. seems your all equipped! Very nice job there!

Next display (depending on the weather) will be this weekend at Ottawa Tulip Festival on Sat/Sun. If its raining cats and dogs the car likes staying dry in the garage of dreams.

What originally clicked in your brain,, to make you want to build it in the first place ? how is the other restoration coming along ? any new pictures?
