Shorten PAL Approval Times

I've called a bunch of times. And I called again wednesday told nothing but wait longer. Today I called and she mentioned that i just called the other day so, certainly our calls are logged in the system. Regardless, she said they're scanning my photo. I asked if that means I'm approved, she said well they talked to your reference and they're scanning you photo.... so I said you can't say but thank you and i appreciate your time. She was very very nice which is surprising considering they know I've called like a dozen times.

Hi Guys,
I just called in RCMP today, they told me that my application is ready for reference to call in. My application was received on 23 March, and today is exactly the 29th business days. Hopefully I'll get my PAL soon.

Random question, can your PAL be revoked for bankruptcy? Me and my buddy were having this convo yesterday but couldn't find an answer on the net.

The bankruptcy question on the application is an aid to guage your current mental state. Answering yes to the question does not prevent you from obtaining a pal. It just sometimes means they will examine your application a little more than someone who has not declared. Usually a letter included with the application explaining the circumstances is enough to allow the pal to be approved

No I mean if you ALREADY have your PAL, then go bankrupt, can they revoke it?

Hey guys what's the typical time for processing after your reference calls in?

I'm assuming its one of the final steps. I just spoke to a very nice lady. She said everything was in order and I just need one reference to call in. And my reference called about ten minutes after that. Thanks

RPAL app
Received March 26; online April 16; called April 23 ..told to call back in a week or two; called May 4...told ready for reference; reference called 1 hour later....hoping next Friday to get a brown envelope in the mail!! Lol.......Nova Scotia
P.S. just have to say I had very pleasant and helpful people to talk to when I called. I'm sure they get aggravated with everybody calling all the time!

Buddy of mine got his RPAL the week after his reference was called. If that tells you anything ...good luck!!

Nice. Our applications appear to be on the identical timeline. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when the RCMP is done processing and they speak to a reference don't they have to send it to the CFO and get their signature before they can issue the card?

In Nova Scotia as well. So we should be getting our cards around the same time

Not sure how that works about the CFO here. All I know is he got his about a week later!! Heres hoping!!

They told her to wait at least 3 weeks before she calls back. LOL

I currently have my non restricted pal decided to upgrade to rpal, took the test on feb15 got results same day. Sent on feb18, received by cfc on feb23 showed online march15 called in on March30th told my reference could call, ref called 10 mins later interview lasted 3 minutes, I called every week since and told the same thing ,still with cfo, I had a bout depression in 2012 and had to state that on application however it was the same thing I stated when I applied for my nrpal ,told the lady that nothing has changed i just had to say yes on the Application because it hadn't been 5 years yet. Called yesterday April 28 said I was frustrated and she said to try in another month as they are well within a reasonable time frame.and the bc cfo has not hundreds but thousands of applications to go through . It's been 47 business days and over 65 calendar days.oh well more time to save for a pistol I guess. I'll keep calling every week though ,you never know.im in bc by the way

First time poster.

I have been reading this thread for a few days and found a lot of good pointers. Thanks guys.

Took CFSC course: February 21st 2015
Received CFSC results: March 3rd 2015
Application mailed: March 9th 2015
Application received: March 12th 2015
Took CRFSC course: March 23rd 2015
Application started to be processed: March 31st 2015 (at least that's what the CFC agent told me on the phone)
Application status showing online: first week of April 2015
Received CRFSC results: April 10th 2015
Faxed CRFSC results to CFC to upgrade application to RPAL: April 14th 2015
Called April 17th 2015 and was told that everything is in order (fax received and already in my file)
Called the following week to see if there is any progress. I was told the same thing and asked to call in 2-3 weeks
Called April 27th and was told that my application reached my provincial CFO. It is out of their hands now.
Called the following day and got the same answer.
Called again yesterday to ask for the reference/interview calls and got "it is out of our hands and you need to wait ... You could call in 2-3 weeks".

At this point I do not know what to do. How can I know if the CFO is ready for the interview / reference calls? Any pointers/ideas?

I have been reading in this thread that we could call for the phone interview and let references call CFC to expedite the process. Usually I call 1-800-731-4000 (option 2 for English .. then option 5 ... then option 2) and end up talking to an agent. Is that what I am supposed to be doing? I was wondering which number/extension should I be calling at this point to get done with the interview and reference calls to get the final approval?

Thanks in advance for your input and help.

UPDATE: I was able to reach the CFO handling my file. She was very nice and professional. She explained to me that the RCMP did not transfer the results of my CRFSC. As soon as it goes into my file, they will do the reference calls.

UPDATE:

May 5th
* morning - My first reference was called. A voice mail was left to my second reference. Another voice mail was left for my personal phone interview.
* 4h00pm - Called in for my phone interview and was told that they need to speak also to second reference for final approval
* 7h30pm - Second reference called in
* 8h00pm - Status online "Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)"

UPDATE #2:

May 13th - PAL was in my mailbox.

So it took 54 calendars day to be approved since the day it was received, and 62 calendar days until it was in my mailbox.

Another thing that baffles me, I see a lot of posts where the RCMP approved the application over the phone, or within minutes of the phonecall. My understanding is once the RCMP do their thing, they have to send it off to the CFO to get their signature. Just curious on how that works for some and not for others.

anyway, congratulations

This is so messed up on times. Been waiting forever. Called on Monday. They said for the 5th time it's with CFO. I asked if I could talk with CFO, they said no, if they need anything they'll call. They've had my app since Dec 9th.
