I have an old Sako .222 Rem. It was in a bunch of stuff I bought from a friend who is in bad health. The bolt face was quite cut up from blown primers... I think it was that way when he bought it... he is quite particular on loading and I doubt he blew any... anyway I set up and machined 7 thou off the bolt face and it cleaned up fine. I turned the barrel back 7 thou and the headspace is dead on.
With this rifle are about 200 loaded rounds... 40 grain V Max bullets...
I took a few to the range today to shoot with another friend I hunt with... he was shooting his 30-06. I fired two rounds on the first target...
I adjusted the scope and asked Jeff if he would like to shoot this .222. He was eager to... he had not shot a .222 since he sold his over 30 years ago. He shot 3 shots and I stopped him from shooting any more... I didn't want him to spoil the best group he ever shot...
Then I took the rifle and shot 3 shots...
Rats! dropped the 3rd shot.
