Hey all I'm new to firearms just getting into shooting. I have a question about a gun I got from my grandpa I believe it is a British .303 lee enfield? It says No4.MK1 on it. Anyways question is about the firing pin, it's missing so does anyone know if I could track one down somewhere? Thanks in advance.

I hope I can find a pin I really want to shoot this thing!!!

You'll find a pin for it. Not sure who best to call. If we knew where you lived it would help. And so you know the No4 MkI rifle has gone up quite a bit in value. Aside from being a rimmed cartridge the old 303 is all right.

If you take a read through this article it will tell you how to properly install a new "striker" - the british term for the "firing pin". It is written by Peter Laidler, who was a senior armourer with the British army, and he pretty much "wrote the book" on care and maintenance of the various Lee Enfield rifles. Google his name and you should find your way to milsurp board with couple dozen of his articles...

Ok thanks for the info guys, sorry what is EE? And I live in Winnipeg Manitoba canada and had no luck tracking down that pin!

You could buy them for about $100 when I got in the game. I recently bought a very nice Long Branch for $550 and thought it was a deal compared to the ones I see at similar price.

Any gun shows in your area? There are some vendors at the local gun show where in the Vancouver area with bins of that kind of thing every month. Don; thave his card but there's a guy fromEdmonton who comes to the big two-day show who has an amazing array of stuff.

EE = CGN's equipment exchange....... where we all buy sell and trade stuff
you need to ask for permission from a moderator to gain access

finding that part should be pretty easy I would think, here on CGN

you will get a lot more help posting this in the MILSURP forum though , HUGE amount of Lee Enfield info there and a great bunch of VERY knowledgeable guys always willing to help out with an enfield.

welcome to the shooting addiction. I hunt with my lee enfields all the time ...... none of my meat comes from a store ;)

Ellwood Epps a site sponsor located at the top of the page had them for $20 but I just checked and they are out of stock. MarStar(top of page) may have some. If not post a WTB ad on the EE. Should be lots of guys with cans full of No4 parts kicking around.

Sometimes MilArm in Edmonton has them I think they ship across Canada... I do not know why they do not Advertise on here most of their staff hang out here or on ### if not both...

Is it just the firing pin, or the entire bolt that is missing?
People have a habit of pulling the bolt, then misplacing it.

A firing pin is going to run you some money. Marstar listed 'em at $18 each(Try Western Gun Parts. Marstar is sold out.) and you need a smithy to install it. You also need the smithy to check the headspace and ensure the rifle is safe to shoot.
FP's run $14.15US from Gunparts(not Western), Stateside, plus their $35US export fee.
