Lightweight heavy hybrid build

This is the one I had built, very similar to yours just a short action, you'll be quite happy I'm sure.

Awesome, almost literally the same build. What is the bbl, Proof or someone else?

What is your weight?

Just bumping this even though I haven't done really anything to move the project forward due to the exchange rate plus being distracted with other hobbies.

I've narrowed my desires to the KRG Whisky 3 folder now that the Gen 5 is out and has been reduced in weight. I have made some compromises on goal weight as well given the lack of choices in the really lightweight area so 10-12 lbs overall is acceptable.

To tide me over right now I am trigger shopping.

I am interested in checking out the 2-stage trigger options to try out rather than a single stage.

I am thinking of the Calvin Elite 2-stage because I still want to keep the pull down under 1lb. I prefer a 6-10oz trigger pull.

Has anyone also tried a straight shoe trigger vs a standard curved trigger?

I am intrigued with the idea of 2 stage but may just play it safe and go with a Jewell HVR

Sounds like you want the gun to be rugged and reliable to suit your needs. Keep in mind that the Jewell triggers have been documented to be potentially unreliable in less than optimal conditions. They were designed for bench rest type use. I personally wouldn't put one on a hunting and/or field gun. However a lot of people do, with mixed success.

Are you still planning on having Rick put the rifle together for you? Have you talked to him about the trigger options?

Have alook at the hardy barrels in carbon....they are a very nice wrap and are considerably better steel it seems. 29 rockwell to the proofs 16 ish. Cut very nice and are a hair lighter as well. Very easy to get and are less of a pain on the pocket book too which is nice. Have alook at the tubbt7 2 stage trigger...very very nice set up

Well finally another update.

Got my barrel today. I picked up a frozen fiber (Chris Reid) barrel through Gary at bighorn sales. It is a benchmark 30cal, 24", #6 contour, 9.5 twist, 5 groove. Looks great. A bit light for target but I have hunting in mind with it anyway as well.

The profile is kind of leading me away from a tactical chassis and more towards something like a carbon fibre Macmillan or manners stock. We'll see.
