What Size Action Slide Tube Do I Need?

Just wondering if anyone could help me out with an issue I'm having,

Bought a Phoenix Kicklite Stock with the standard forend for the Mossberg 500 and i was just wondering whether the 6-3/4" slide tube would work or whether id need a 7-3/4" slide tube, obviously the forend i have now has no action slide tube.

Ive e-mailed kicklite with this question and brownells as well, both have yet to get back to me so i thought id try my luck on here.

thanks a lot and any info or help you guys n gals could give would be greatly appreciated

What are the action bars attached to?

Check out piece #5 below, the forend slides over the slide tube, and is held in place with the slide tube nut, the slide tube assembly then slides over the magazine tube.

If you have a Mossberg Flex, it does appear that it uses a different forend system than the traditional 500s. If that's the gun you have, you might have to stick with Mossberg accessories.

not a flex, appreciate the fact you are trying to help but it does not have an action slide tube. and you can put a slide tube on just about any mossberg shotgun also not every forend has them. some are just pinned in. i'd show you a picture if i could
 
Okay, think about this, what are the action bars connected to at the forend? The slide tube is inside the forend. The forend material alone is not strong enough to take the force applied by cycling the gun over it's lifetime. All the pump shotguns that I know about have a slide tube under the forend, that includes Remington, Winchester, Ithica, JC Higgins, Springfield, and Mossberg. But hey, if you insist on purchasing one, call up Western Gun Parts and ask them for the 7.75" slide tube for your Mossberg.

If that's how Mossberg is now making the 500, I've purchased my last one. Benelli, here I come! In order to mount your new stock, not only will you need the slide tube assembly, you will also need to assure that your current slide plate and bolt are compatible with the slide tube that you need to buy. I know that Remington has made numerous changes over the years, and its often less trouble to purchase a slide tube and slide plate as a matched set, if the slide tube needs to be replaced.
