Got my AR-180B-2 back

I love the rifle. I sold mine a ways back and then picked up another one in even better condition for less than I bought and sold the last one (missed it too much).
Buddy said it was well used but after taking it apart and scrubbing it and the bore it's in very good condition, rifling was still sharp and bore shiny as new.
The design is awesome. Very reliable. Very simple. Again, wish we had an aluminum lower but we all know that lol
Mine shoots about 2-4" groups with the irons at 100 meters with commercial ammunition and stock iron sights depending on the quality of it. Seems to like the 62gr projectile weight the best though.
Mine is still all original, I have the ACE skeleton stock on it now but stil retain the original. Will never chop it up.
I have a large spare parts kit on the way from Armalite to keep her running for many a years to come. Should be in in about a couple weeks hopefully ;)

I'd say bang for buck it's still the best rifle in Canada in it's class. It's class being an overpriced, non restricted, not that accurate, black rifle with a pistol grip lol All the other alternatives in this country are way too expensive to get the same effect to me regardless of "ergonomics", modularity or "combat reliability" or whatever. Lets be honest, we just go to the woods and shoot at pop cans or paper....
I experienced first hand an XCR having it's little allen screw that holds the barrel on coming loose on a range recently. Talk about a s**t design! And for almost $3K after taxes!? Wow.....

We'll never part again this time, the 180 and me though.

I love mine as well. And I will never let her go. . . I do want a scope rail though...some day...

Here is my target from the other day. 100 yards iron sights.

The S&B printed 2 inches and the American Eagle put 4 into 1.9 moa and the 5th made it 2.8 which was probably my fault. I'll try again when I figure out what I'm going to use for glass during load testing and maybe some handload development.

Josh at Stormwerkz is super-amazing; he helped me get everything I needed, answered all my questions, and without-asking he refunded me money I didn't realize I had overpaid (I had miscalculated the foreign exchange).

I put the longer SM-180-02 receiver rail atop my AR-180B; it's quick-detach goodness!

Go for the rail now if you even "think" you want one - you won't regret it.

maybe ATRS or NEA should be making some of these.

These rifles have been out long enough that if ATRS or NEA were going to make parts they would be by now. I think they would definitely need a push from a group of owners showing there would actually be a demand and it would be expensive because it would probably be a one batch run then the demand would be satisfied.
I think we need to be happy with what we have and maybe be proactive and order a parts kit and the Stormworkz repair kit before they aren't available any more.

I mean the whole Rifle, not just repair parts.

If they built the whole rifle it would end up being another $3000 non restricted semi auto. There is no way they would ever go through that much work and expense just to sell them for $1200-$1500.
How much demand do you think there would be if it cost as much as all the other non restricted options?
Also keep in mind that if they did build them they would try to appease the market by tacticooling it and putting in a heavier more accurate barrel which would increase weight and take away from the strengths the original offers in being light weight and simple. I don't want one with an M-4 telescoping stock a quadrail and a heavy barrel, I like mine just the way it is. As I posted earlier, this rifle is accurate enough to shoot out to 500yds and actually hit stuff using the iron sights, it's never going to print 1moa groups on paper because it wasn't designed that way, I'm ok with that because it does hit 10-12 inch plates at 500yds regularly enough to be fun and challenging.
What I think would be the best solution would be for a lot of people to message Armalite and ask them to do another run of the B-2 series for export to Canada and have Wolverine import them. Hopefully they would end up in customers hands for under $2000.

Aye, the pros of the AR180 are the light weight, great balance, simple reliable design and still relatively cheap price tag (for our sad market)
It's a utility rifle, not some tactical, lazer beam space gun and that's why I love it.
I still say it's the best black rifle non restricted in Canada bang for buck.

I've actually messaged Armalite a few times expressing my love of the rifle. Also briefly explaining why it's a huge hit up here in Canada and begging them to do another run. I keep getting the same canned response that they are "working on eventually doing a slightly redone version for the near future" for the last 6 years lol

I love the rifle. It's great. Would have been very interested in seeing the core design developed a bit more and improved to be a bit more rugged and durable but then it wouldn't be what it is.

I hope they eventually do come out with their more modern design as long as they stick to the basics and just improve the design to as you say make it a bit more rugged and durable.
If it came from Armalite with the original lower instead of the polymer one I would support the change but for all the guys wanting to buy the billet lower I just don't get it unless you have a broken one or have one of the prohib ones (if the upper will fit the new lower), you are just taking a fairly economical rifle and now adding $500 to the price to fix a problem that doesn't exist. If you're going to spend that much on it you'd be better off just buying one of the other options available, especially since many guys are also the type that will buy the MI quadrail and the Stormworkz stock adapter to put an M-4 stock on it. Now it's no longer a light weight utility rifle, it's a bastardized rifle trying to be something it's not.
This rifle was actually designed by Eugene Stoner as a replacement for the M-16, it's cheaper and easier to produce and the short stroke gas system is supposedly more reliable. As a civilian shooter most of us will never run enough ammo through one between cleanings to be able to tell any difference between the two systems but I know that after my 180 rounds the other day it barely needed anything other than a quick swab of the barrel. Normally I wouldn't have cleaned it but I don't think it had been cleaned since I sold it to my buddy a couple years ago, he only put about 50 rounds through it and I cleaned it before I sold it to him so it just got some fresh oil before it's day out at the farm, there was a little copper fouling in the barrel but the rest just needed a wipe and some fresh oil.
