I've been getting light primer strikes with my glock 22 gen 4 . It only has had around one thousand rounds through it. Looking at the breech face this does not seem to be normal. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Have you cleaned the striker, junk can get in there and cause issues. Also make sure the channel is bone dry, if you get oil in there it can cause the striker to 'pump' also referred to as 'hydraulic' The fluid causes a suction that reduces the energy of the striker (that's why they have vented 'maritime' striker cups for guns used in water)

Check the striker for chips, some early models had weak strikers. 1000, 2000 rounds won't gum it up to a point where it won't strike. Have you changed the striker spring? Lighter springs can cause that as well.

I cleaned the striker and put it back in dry. Still same problem

Can you post a picture of the tip of the striker? Like 1glock2nv said, if a part of the tip is missing, it can cause your problems. Also something doesn't seems right with the firing pin hole on the breechface. Normaly, the hole is perfectly rectangular, but it look like something is dammaged on one side.

I would disassemble the slide and give it a clean, maybe some debris has built up on the striker assembly/channel. Was it purchased new? Has it been modified in any way? Are you using reloaded ammunition?

If you need help with the detailed strip check out this video:

Yes I purchased it new a few years ago. I've cleaned the striker assembly/channel several times and still same problem. I've been using a 9mm storm lake conversion barrel in it for a while now. I get light primer strikes using both barrels, 9 and 40. At first I thought it was my reloads but I bought a few boxes of factory ammo and still same thing, even with federal primers.

I wonder why it looks that bad so soon. I bought the gun brand new and it has seen at most 1k rounds.

What kind of ammo? I have aftermarket strikers in 2 of my Glocks, I have only had primer striking problems with Wolf reloaded ammo. Never with factory loads

I believe its too late to go back to factory loads now to see if they work because that stirker is already cooked, so hard primers could have caused the damage and now you have light strikes on all ammo with it

Weird thing is 90% of the ammo shot though it was my reloads and they all had federal primers. It wasn't until I ran out of federal primers and tried the dominion primers I started having problems. Now they all give me light primer strikes federal, dominion and S&B. The new striker is on its way, Thanks for all the help guys!
