M305 butt pad slip on.

not slip on but there are several companies that sell rubber butt pads that replace the metal bone crusher. Do a search on m1a/m14 rubber butt pad, youll see them. But remember if you are a short guy, these add 1inch to length of pull.

ever think of putting a pad on YOURSELF instead of the rifle- just thicken your jacket with a piece of foam - something like one of the PAST recoil pads- or change your loads to a lighter bullet?- there's so much leeway in the m14 platform that there must be a load to suit you- if it'll soften the recoil of a 12 guage, it'll work on an m14-
or you could try to shoot the thing PROPERLY- off a bench, sandbagged, with the butt plate cover up so the buttplate locks into your shoulder, and putting 25-30 pounds forward pressure against the bipod or front bag
how we ever managed before the 5 round rule i'll never know- we used to shoot 20 round mags at a stretch, typically 5 mags at a sit- then had to let the barrel cool off- otherwise you'd notice a shift in poi.

I just ordered one from EBay-$20, made of leather with neoprene inside and a strip of elastic fabric on bottom to accommodate different size stocks. I will try to post link.
