I really like the idea of this. Might make me want to actually get an SKS.
Funny thing is, for that price, you could buy a second SKS and just new york reload.
I got this plus trigger spring kit and a LAR mag on the way, now to just find a nice but not too nice SKS to chop up. Not interested in chopping up my unrefurbbed 54 Tula.

I am curious as to how this part could be manufactured lets say out of polymer or be straight out 3D printed.
I am sure you guys considered it, and i am curious as to what were the reasons to decide against it?
I'm not really curious about that.. lol
I figure that even if we somehow get our magazine capacity laws rescinded then I still have a semi auto rifle in 7.62X39 capable of taking AR mags, which isn't a bad thing. If that ever happens I'm not sure if you can get a drum magazine in 7.62, but I would get one in a heartbeat if you could.
^Agreed. A $250 upgrade to a $175 gun? Well, it might actually push me over the edge to GET an SKS now. Seems to add allot of value to the experience of shooting one. I work for a company that manufactures in Canada...the $250 price seems reasonable to me.
.... and the branding logos were subdued.
not for the ability to add a measly 5 rounds...... I thought long and hard about this as I've been there done that with so many sks's back in the 90's and gave them up a long time ago except for one minty low round count sksD with AK mags.
I can see this upgrade being "worth it" for guys that do a lot of sks shooting at the range or in matches, but for me it would just be a pricey novelty item. I gotta pass.
I'd consider one if the price came down and the branding logos were subdued.
Thanks for adding to the discussion!
