I really like the idea of this. Might make me want to actually get an SKS.

Funny thing is, for that price, you could buy a second SKS and just new york reload.

These look great. Would love to have one.
Please snatch them up now and buy them all so I can't.
Then Hi-Cal will recoup the tooling cost, reach his break-even point, and consider making a future batch at a more attractive reduced cost, about the time I will finally be ready to swoop in and get one. Thank you.

When I decided to have one built out, I thought of the cost .. then thought of the cost for me to replace / repair etc... I had considered the cost of a 858 and I decided on a good sks build instead. I think I made the right decision, with accessories for the sks now, you can't go wrong.

I figure that even if we somehow get our magazine capacity laws rescinded then I still have a semi auto rifle in 7.62X39 capable of taking AR mags, which isn't a bad thing. If that ever happens I'm not sure if you can get a drum magazine in 7.62, but I would get one in a heartbeat if you could.

^Agreed. A $250 upgrade to a $175 gun? Well, it might actually push me over the edge to GET an SKS now. Seems to add allot of value to the experience of shooting one. I work for a company that manufactures in Canada...the $250 price seems reasonable to me.

I am curious as to how this part could be manufactured lets say out of polymer or be straight out 3D printed.

I am sure you guys considered it, and i am curious as to why you decided against it?

You mean like this? ;)

Except that one is meant for the standard SKS, with a different mod required to fit the stock, not meant for this new magwell adapter.
Googled and I found an obsolete 'for sale' advert for a 7.62X39 AR type 75 rd drum mag made by Norinco, but it was in the States. Not sure if there's a pinned one available here.

not for the ability to add a measly 5 rounds...... I thought long and hard about this as I've been there done that with so many sks's back in the 90's and gave them up a long time ago except for one minty low round count sksD with AK mags.
I can see this upgrade being "worth it" for guys that do a lot of sks shooting at the range or in matches, but for me it would just be a pricey novelty item. I gotta pass.
I'd consider one if the price came down and the branding logos were subdued.

Well it sure is a heck of a lot cheaper then saving nearly $3000 for a brand new XCR in 7.62x39, so in that aspect this is a major bargain priced accessory.

If you look at this adapter under that light, you are just giggling like a school girl at the money you just saved!!!

HI-CAL I love you guys!!!

Thanks for adding to the discussion!

^A 3D printed plastic part vs. a CNC'd/milled aluminum part. Yeah...that sounds way better. lol Feel free to tinker with your printer, I have a hunch plenty of R&D/trial and error went into this and at the end of the day~it's a part subjected to heat, inclement weather, solvents, impact and hanging under a very robust firearm. It's also a gun part a company is putting their name on. Quality matters.

For the record, I first saw stereolithography in use nearly 23 years ago in my line of work. It's an incredibly useful thing, but in my opinion...so far...actual mechanical parts for firearms~not there yet.
