1911 rail wear

I tried to hijack my other thread to ask this question, but that didn't work. I took my SAM 1911 commander to the range last week for the first time. I only put 20 rounds through it because I was getting a lot of powder blown back at me. I noticed some rough wear mostly on just one of the slide rails yesterday while cleaning it. Does this look normal? I do not remember seeing this wear before taking it to the range.

Just wearing in. Its pretty normal. Metal on Metal and tight tolerances. Even say new piston rings in a engine will grind away, till they properly broken in.

And I used 5w40 syn diesel engine oil and I still got that wear. Its normal. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Even my SA NM polished in areas on the frame/slide.
 
Get some better recoil springs....the SAM ones come very light, that should stop the powder blowing back. 18lbs is standard for the .45 commander, SAM is probably 14lbs if that.
 
18lbs spring and some grease on the rails is what you want for the break in period. I would never recommend grease for a .22 auto pistol, but any center fire cartridge won't be concerned with the added resistance that all but the heaviest of greases would impart.

I guess that I should buy some grease. I just use oil on my polymer guns.

I looked for a 18-20lb spring for a 1911 commander and I see nothing online in Canada. I am surprised given the popularity of the 1911 platform. It would suck to have to pay $25 shipping to get a $10 part from the US.

I decided to just place an order with Brownells for Wolff 18lb and Ed Brown 20lb recoil springs for the 1911 commander. Shipping via Parcel Post Priority International. I hope that I don't get charged any huge customs fees.

It is too bad that no one has any stock in Canada at the moment. Wantsalls said they might have them in stock in 3 weeks.
