Need info on this model....
I have wanted a good single shot 22 for a while now and just picked up this safe queen from a buddy at our club.
Its an older 54 action match model 1403 with hand stop and sling swivel added to the rail and upgraded sights (so he tells me). Beautiful stock with pistol grip and thumb cut out also has adjustable butt stock with 4 inserts and rubber pad (he has long arms). I've searched online but not a lot of info on 1403 ? I'm considering putting a scope on it but it works great and looks better with the sights on it now......but my eyes aren't as young as they used to be ....lol. Any info on this model would be helpful.

Could of swore it was a 54 ?.....also pretty sure its not a two stage trigger. Adjustable yes. Looks just like the pic tho. But wouldn't know to tell the difference between the 54 or 64 ....lol

I have always thought that the 1403 was a 64 action not a 54 action. Would still shoot pretty well though!

I guess I was slow off the mark here.... but the 54 actions have a collar with the bolt handle root forming one locking lug and another lug on the same collar forming another locking surface. They are set at about the 4 and 8 oclock positions... fwiw I believe that the top of the bolt `nose` forms the third locking surface as it is forced up against the action at 12:00 when in battery.

Something over 20x with fine crosshairs will give you a good picture of the target, be it at 25 or 50 yrds. I managed to get a Mueller 8-32, for my Anschutz 190, works good for the price.
