Just started watching a movie called "The Veteran", and just a few minutes into the movie, I see this :

Anybody have an idea as to why they'd stamp a prop gun 1991A1 instead of 1911A1? First time I see this.
Cheers

The M1991A1 (or simply "1991") is just another version of Colt's 1911-type pistol, and as its name implies was introduced to the market late in 1991. The name "M1991A1" was little more than some Colt marketing exec's clever spin on the original US military M1911A1 designation. It was a basic Series 80 pistol with less frills than a standard blued Colt Government Model which enabled it to sell at a lower price point, and thus better compete with the Springfield Armory and Norinco pistols that at the time were starting to chip away significantly at Colt's market share

The Colt 1991A1, when introduced, also started at the serial number range [in the 2 millions] of the last Colt USGI 1911A1 pistol mfg in 1945.

NAA.

Isn't this one of the Colts made during a strike where the guns were all parkerized? The 1980's maybe?
Pretty sure that 1991 was not in the 80's...Nothing to do with the strike.

The gun pictured above is what' known as an "old roll mark" 1991. The "new roll mark" model is still in production and has a smaller roll mark.

Now that you've got the markings sorted out, enjoy the movie. I love that one. The shootout at the end is probably my favourite movie gunfight of all time!

In 1985, Colt's workers, members of the United Auto Workers went on strike for higher wages. This strike would ultimately last for five years, and was one of the longest running labor strikes in American history.[52] With replacement workers running production, the quality of Colt's firearms began to decline. Dissatisfied with Colt's production, in 1988 the U.S. military awarded the contract for future M16 production to Fabrique Nationale.[53]

Pretty sure this is one from that era.
