One of the unfired examples imported by Century back in the late 70s/early 80s. The MAS 44 was the predecessor of the more common MAS 49. Retained the reversible/stowable spike bayonet of the MAS 36.
Otherwise very similar to MAS 49, direct impingement gas system, 10 Rd mag (tastefully internally blocked to 5).

Don't see too many around, what say you French arms connoisseurs, as to value ?

PS. Yes, I am clearing out my basement and preparing for the seniors home!! They won't let me bring it all with me!!

Just read your post on the MAS. If you happen to be dispersing a few French rifles , I have a very good home for them and would be interested in purchasing. I currently have eight French rifles in my collection and am always looking for more.

According to Jean Huon in his book "Proud Promise", there were only 6,200 MAS 44 rifles made.

There were development rifles MAS 44A, MAS 44B and MAS 44C which were used in the development of the MAS 49. These variants were produced in small numbers and used for trial purposes only.

Given that there are not many MAS 44s around, I think that anything under $1,000 is a good buy.
