Been loading 87gr. IMR7828 under a 180gr. Nosler Partition in Nosler brass outta 24" L691 Sako...kinda warm at 3200fps but it is a Weatherby...Shoots MOA easy.
.257........H1000 with 110 accubonds and 115 bergers. .7" @ 200 yards. I find I have to run the accubonds at 3.15" col and the bergers at 3.26" col. I use 71.5 gr for the AB in my vanguard (3350 fps) and 75.5 grains in my mark V Accumark (3600 FPS) I wouldnt run the 75.5 gr unless you have an accumark. Ive worked both of these loads up in my rifles with no pressure. cheers
Yes, I have found the IMR 7828 powder with Fed. 215 primers is a good combination with the 180 grain Accubonds in the 300 WBY and the 110 grain Accubonds in the .257 WBY. Thanks abunch for all the info! Both are shooting under an inch at 100 yards. Just have to tweak the loads a bit and col and do my part and I am sure they will be close to 1/2" . This is a great world playing with reloading!
I get a real kick out ... When people post what they use load bullet combo..... And describe how things work .... Like creamy smooth said it not only kills them but fillets them too!!!!!a picture would be just awesome ... And too see the persons face too on what happened .... Just priceless !!! I love it I get a real kick ...... I'm in tears laughing so hard ....... So with that speed of bullet I wonder dose it cook them too ??? Rare??? Medium ??? Well done????
Here's one of a 100 grain entrance wound; and expression on the face of the happy user who is quite used to the effect of 3500 fps frangible bullets smacking something in the gizzard. Don't have any of the slack jawed look of wonder that the newly initiated usually wear.
Jim, it should be perfect for the 257 WBY Mag, but I would think with 110 grain bullets, but it is a very big case with a small bore, so 80 grain may also be good.
Norma MRP is interchangeable with the older Norma 205. I went home from the Lumby gun show today with a pound of each, plus a pound of 203.
There was also some 257 W mag ammo there today at very reasonable price.
