Thought I would share a couple of pictures from my Spring Bear hunt this weekend on Vancouver Island. It was a very special day as my son almost attempted to take his first bear but didn't feel fully confident with a hundred yard shot, which I am proud of him for that I would rather him wait then take a bad shot. So he asked Dad to step in so I was able to take my first island bear and was so happy I was able to share this with my son.

But after my son experienced this hunt with me, he is wanting me to get another tag and take him back out so we can get him one.

Congrats, and great photos!! Looking forward to details of when your Son experiences his first. That'll be quite a thrill for him I'm sure.

Nothing better than building memories like that with our kids... makes the a more "grounded & connected" person... understanding our full roll in the food chain is something being lost by many youngsters... good job.

Great story.
Get your son out in the bush where it's safe to shoot and get him practicing
off hand shooting.
Find something to lean on and get him shooting this style to gain his confidence.
You've taught him well on whether to shoot or not.
And yes, go get another bear tag.

More memories to come.............

Well done and congrats. Looking forward to the story and pics of your sons first bear. Hoping to be able to get to post my bear story up here after this weekends hunt and if need be into next week. I leave Friday and have till Wednesday up on my trapline to trap a bear or two. Good luck to your son and hopefully(once you get the tag) he can get a good shot on a nice bear.
