Su-16 any good?

I had one and it was very reliable, had about 1200 rnds through it , no failures , 10 rnd mag dumps were good to go. Accuracy was around 2 Moa with AE black bx . There was a few issues with the back of the receiver cracking ,havnt heard of that prob lately, but if your the original owner , you have a lifetime warranty. For the price I'd get another. You'll more than likely want to add a pistol grip and forend so add another $250 . And get it threaded at the source if you can.

I bought one second hand. It was great until the receiver cracked while firing. Make sure you are covered by warranty...and if it starts to feel "looser" during firing...stop and look for cracks....lol

A used ruger mini-14 would be my my pick for a $800ish non-restricted .223 . Mixed reviews on accuracy, but there are plenty of "tacticool" parts and I haven't heard of them falling apart during firing.
How long ago did yours crack? Do you know when yours was manufactured? I've been trying to determine if this is a problem that may have been remedied in newer models or not...
If you do a search ,you can only find a few with the cracked receiver. Keltec said something about the issue being resolved. Keltec forum is a good place to start. The yanks love em. If you got warranty , it's all good. All the NR black guns are crap anyways...lol

Mine cracked about 2-3 yrs ago. Since it was used, it may have been even older. Its a light rifle that functions well that can be had at a decent price used, but I wouldn't buy one again.
I have one and really like it for what it is; a handy way to have a rifle along in all sorts of situations. Mine has been absolutely reliable and is decently accurate.
They are very lightly constructed so not a weapon you would trust your life to if you were expecting trouble; it is meant to be carried a lot and fired a bit IMO.
The cracking issue appears to stem from poorly staked operating rods which back off and alow the bolt to impact the reciever. I keep an eye on mine and have had no issues so far. I have seen some ugly but workable repairs if it ever did let go.
Lots of guys upgrade to the pistol grip but I find it looks too mall ninja for me and interferes with one of the most desirable attributes, ie the ability to fold. An upside is that as a consequence spare lowers are quite common, I picked one up for $50!

Bought the forend and butstock kit threw a vortex Strikefire 2 on it and blammo!
It may not be quite as accurate as the mini but it makes up for it in the fact that it accepts AR mags.

what you meant to say, all the cheap nr black guns are crap. well there is a reason why they are cheap!!!
For a fun gun, it's not bad, as stated it's not built to the same durability as a steel/alloy receiver would be but then that's to be expected. If you're looking for one for 3 gun or other similar heavy use, I wouldn't recommend it. As already stated, it is more accurate than the older Mini's (in my experience anyway).
