I like the kel tec su22 and the issc xcr but what I really like is the SIG522 I'm geussing it's prohibited? What are other options for a mag fed 22 also I'm not a huge fan of the 10/22 just cause everyone has them I'm just looking for a fun plinker out of the box that I can throw an optic on and shoot.

Well, It requires hard to find ammo, but the Pietta PPS-50 "Puma" can use a 50 round drum mag. Needs "High Velocity" ammo. Found it feeds best with rounds that have a muzzle velocity over 1400FPS.

Just click on Marstar's link up top. Though their site's not working for em atm.
This is how I got it. Red dot(Though I think I'd prefer a real optic), bipod(It's handy, it's NOT a light firearm), foregrip, and polymer collapsible stock.
I keep it in a full on gun case, as it's an "evil" looking firearm, and don't want any nosey nancies calling the cops.

but EVERY friend/family member who's tried it, loves it. But be warned, you spend a LOT of time loading ammo.. 50 rounds go REAL quick.. You might wanna get 2 or 3 extra drum mags, so friends can load while someone's shooting :)

And it IS non-restricted, though I doubt most LEO's would believe it unless they were into firearms enough to KNOW the laws.

depending on area 22 ammo is hard to come by. I can find a ton of high velocity ammo just not CCI... Quiets are also hard to come by.. But bulk high velocity ive had no problem finding.

Just like everyone else on this site, you will end up with more than one anyway. So whichever you get first is irrelevant lol.

x2 !

Go buy an sks great cheap semi auto rifle non restricted. Then buy a nice 22 what ever happens to tickle your fancy at the time. Then tell us how many more you have in a year haha

My pick was, and would be the Henry lever 001. Cheap, fun and shoots anything you can find. But like I said....it was just the start of 3 more rimfires on top of that and looking for at least 2 more lol

I just picked up the Norinco JW25A ... K98 look alike in 22... Very impressed. On sale for 190 free shipping at Canada ammo.... Nice fun bolt gun.

That is a great little lever and loads of fun with an autoloader

Like many here...several rimfires have come and gone from my collection. (22, 22WMR, 17M2, 17HMR) Semis, bolt guns, lever actions, etc. I like the looks of the SU22, and have come THIS close to buying one on a few occasions. However, as much as I like them...I can't quite come to terms with that much plastic for that price, especially for a gun that doesn't have a reputation for accuracy. If it was a $250 gun, I'd probably own one.

For a mag fed semi~the best value out there is the Marlin 795. It shoots well out of the box, accurate, and cheap. A nice, $30 upgrade is the MCARBO spring kit that improves the trigger...but that's about all the gun needs. If you want to use a little more of the budget and still stay in your wife's good books, consider a 795 in stainless steel. If you want to beat your wallet up just a little more..you could add a Boyd's stock and some goodies from DIP. If you did all of that, you'd be in SU22 territory $-wise..probably more..but have a much better gun in my opinion. I own a blued 795, and stainless 795...both with upgraded trigger springs....one with a cheap scope, one with a nice scope. Original, plastic stocks.
