Was planning on maybe buying a handgun at their shop since I just received my RPAL and got signed up for a membership. How was the experience if you bought from there? Was going to get a SIG 226 in .22 but are over a $100 more than Cabelas so I may be getting it there. Been eyeing a CZ Shadow in 9mm as well. No one else seems to have it in stock in the city at the moment.
Don't really want to wait longer than I have to. :dancingbanana:

Shop around for the best deal. Don't be afraid to buy online from one of the supporting dealers at the top of the page. Good luck and have fun.

I've bought at least 6 handguns from them over the last few years, and they have been fantastic, so no hesitation recommending them! The guys there always seem to have the time to talk and go thru all your questions. Have had good experiences at P and D as well, but they are not as convenient to get to for me, plus I shoot at Phoenix, so am there lots anyways. Unlike a few years ago, Phoenix has really stepped it up with lots more higher end and top of the line guns as well. Their STI stuff is awesome!

As the owner Len has said several times to me, roughly quoted "We aren't a big gun store. We are a range with a small store. I can't/don't order enough volume to get the lowest prices so my prices are higher than the big guys"

I've been pretty pleased with their service. I've bought a few guns in store and have also special ordered a couple products and had them shipped to me. All of my transactions have been pretty smooth. They also get some pretty cool used stuff through the store every once in a while.

i had a bad experience with Phoenix and wouldn't even send people i hate there so they could get fleeced with the high prices.
but that's just me.
i only know one other person that has dealt with them and he wont go back either.

save yourself the money and trouble and give your hard earned cake to someone who will earn it with customer service.

just my $0.02

You can always shop around, and offer them your business if they'll price match. That's what I did when I got my Shadow from Island Outfitters here in Victoria, who are also notorious for high prices. They actually matched the shipped cost I would have paid from the lower mainland. It never hurts to ask. They don't want to play ball, take your business elsewhere. P&D are alwyas great to deal with. I used to shoot at Phoenix, and I bought ammo there, but they were on par plus a discount for a membership.

I offered to buy a SIG 226 .22 there if they would match the price at Cabelas. I shhot there too and am a gold member but they outright refused and were a bit rude when I asked about matching the price. I took my business at Cabelas. I believe in supporting local businesses whenever I can but customer service is most important. I shoot there but highly doubt I'll shop there.
Too bad P&D didnt have one or they would have gotten my business.
So a SIG 226 will be my first gun followed by a CZ Shadowline 9mm I just bought off a fellow CGN member.
Gonna be anxious waiting for the next week or two.

I have purchased 3 guns there and depending who is on the gun counter what your service is like.
1 guy is a complete a-hole but the rest are great.
The prices are a little higher but try getting an intelligent answer from the people behind the counter at Cabela's next time you have a problem.

when I was there for the first time I met a nice older fellow had a good chat, and that made me sign up as a member, the range was under maintenance that day and I looked thru the window everything was okay. what a mistake....
pistol range is like a smoker cabin when busy, the staff had to wear gas masks all the time, I ended up buying one myself after gotten a chest pain after a whole day session one weekend. I used be a member of DVC ventures in Vancouver for years, so I know what a proper indoor range is supposed like.
one day I tried one rental pistol and the mag was either not pinned or the pin fell out, I kindly informed one of the staff, I'm no fudd and I was nice and I said "I don't know would you get into trouble with renting out unpinned mags, but just so you know..." I was given a rude reply with a smart ass tone " just don't load more then 10...."
their rifle range is also a joke, all this for close to $500 a year....no thanks, I joined CHAS after 6 months and letting the rest of my membership with Phoenix wasting away...

I do not have an RPAL but Wild west at WEM, P&D, Milarm, Phoenix are mostly my go to places there are a few times I have shopped at Wholesale Sports and Cabela's But I like shopping at the local places. Granted Wholesale Sports knows me as "Quick Sale" I walk up to the counter "Can is see ######?" "Here you go sir." ... "yep I will take it you do the paper work I am going to go grab a few other things and see you in a few mins."

Then I spend an hour at P&D buying 100 rounds of .45 LC...

Depends on the person you get behind the counter, some can be complete A-holes, other people are alright. Honestly, look around, if you can find a better deal, do it. Although IMO, their range is overpriced and the RO's can be condescending as heck sometimes

When Edmonton Shooting Center opens I'll give them a go when Phoenix runs out.........give them a shot.
I noticed that too that the staff wear masks all the time. Not a good sign....ventilation system must not be working too well.
Overpriced for what you get. Hope they improve or I think many people will go to the new range.
