mossberg 835 wont release shell from mag

I'd guess the cartridge stop and/or its interrupter assembly is the issue. WHAG though. Possibly a burr on the follower.

But what is it that activates the cartridge stop ?
On one of my mossberg 500's the cartridge stop was covering a lot of the bottom of a shell (I was using dummies), almost covering the edge of the primer. Racking through the motion in slow motion I could see the stop move over but just not enough to clear the rim of the shell. If I racked the gun as hard as I could it would feed. I disassembled and bent the stop just a little and it has worked perfectly ever since.
