How are your lead reserves?

I have been at it about two years, besides my stash I have passed over 1000 lbs on to others as I did not have the cash to keep it for myself.

Where do you get your lead in Hamilton? I bought some from alchemy extrusions on millen the quality was great. If I could find a less expensive source I would make use of it.

Last time I priced lead from a proper seller it was $1.89 + tax /lb.

I buy nothing but scrap. I was even lucky enough to get a few isotope containers

I have never paid more than $1/lb.

Alright Eggy... In the picture below you can see the common ones I come across. It may vary in your area.

The only ones you have to be real careful of are the bottom ones. Both lead and zinc come in these forms. I always throw these in a seperate pile and go through them with my pliers

Anyone know where I can get a free, clean 55 gallon drum with removeable lid. I'm running out of pails.

Try a food processing place. Some place like Lucern. Not sure what's near the Big Smoke, but I bet something nearby. Like a place that makes juice boxes, cereal or spices. They often get bulk food items bagged in clean drums with spring lids. They get lots of drums which get squished and scrapped.

I just picked up some 50/50 solder for free. Have about 250 lbs to pick up this weekend :)

You know you got it bad when you are switching from five gallon buckets to fifty gallon barrels.

Now just to find a corner in the yard to hide the barrel so the wife does not get upset.

What is the FN-Zn alloy?

Yes. There are awn. Mc. Fn. iaw. P. Tn. En. And a few other I forget. I have worked in the tire shop (Canadian tire) for over 7 years now. Mc for example is most common aluminum rim style. Tn is for Ford and Chevy aluminum rims. En for Acura and Hyundai's. The first prefixes are for rim designations. Mercedes has been using a foam style weight for a while also. Is is malleable flexible etc. it is a mix of rubber and zinc particles.

But in another odd note I have personally seen a tire come in with a 4lb piece of lead Ingot through the tire. Needless to say I couldn't patch the tire and I kept the nice lead Ingot.

Roughly
200lbs ww ingots
20lbs pure ingots

Just scored another 200lbs of plumbing lead from a reno job. The biggest source were the two shower bases. Should be good for a while now.

I've got lead coming out of the wazooo. Just met the brother of an old grade school friend who just happens to run his own plumbing business. Says he will give me all the lead he find for free.

Picked up 150 lbs of decoy weights and down rigger balls last night. Have another 150 lbs of wheel weights to pick up by the end of the month.

Don't know about the people who say they can't find lead.

Many years ago a hospital built a new X-ray room. The old one was lined with pure lead plates. They were nice enough to stack them on a pallet at the dump. Must have been over 1000 pounds of pure lead. I took about 600 pounds because that's all I could haul. Gave lots to my friends, kept a few hundred pounds. Then the tire shop gave me 5 five gallon pails of WW. After cleaned and made into ingots there must be 400 pounds.
I'm good for a while.
