7.5x55 swiss

Hey,

have you found any dies for the K31 yet? I am looking for those as well.
I haven't found a local source for the Redding K31 dies; I was going to order them from the US sometime but I'm not in a rush. The S&R 1911 dimensioned dies from Lee, RCBS, or Hornady will work fine but you will have reduced case life as they size the shoulder about .015" narrower than the K31 chamber. If you annealed more often it might not be an issue.

you can reload GP11 ammo. the brass is excellent. It is berdan primed but its not corrosive. you can get new berdan primers from Henry at Budget shooter supplies fairly cheaply and in stock.

as for the Lee dies for this round, I would avoid them. Some testing was done on these dies by people with far better knowledge than me, and their methods were good. the dies did not produce consistant measurements in a few key areas. you can find this info over at the swiss rifle forums.

Brownells had the best price for RCBS dies at around $35 us for the two die set. I'd rather buy from a Canadian supplier, but $90 Canadian is not fair in my opinion.

I'm doing some experiments right now converting the GP11 brass. I have some drilled and swaged to take small rifle primers (cordless drill and an RCBS primer pocket swage die in a normal press; nothing special) and need to find a ball bearing the right size to swage the primer pockets to accept large rifle primers. Going to run them through several full power loadings to see how they hold up. If it doesn't work, I'll just order a bag of Prvi brass. I'm doing this more as a personal experiment for fun so if it doesn't work, lesson learned. I found a bunch of tutorials online for both methods that people report work well.

I'll probably take a bunch of pictures and post a tutorial later. The small rifle primer conversion tutorial I found was for steel cased 7.62x54R but it looks like it may work for GP11 as well. You leave the sides of the original berdan primer in and the small rifle primer seats within it. Since the original is crimped is should stay in when decapping the small rifle primer.

amazon.ca has redding and lee dies i believe, try Tradex as well for dies, hard to find cases boxer primed so I'm picking up PPv cartridges for the brass - and a bit of shooting fun

The GP11 will dry up eventually and if brass case prices keep increasing it'll be more than 85c a case before long. I was going to order a bag or two and just put them away until I needed them.
I guess since I've been buying Lapua brass lately for ~$1/case, a 77c price tag doesn't seem too bad.

If you have a steady supply of GP11, sure, keep shooting it. I'm looking to shoot cast bullets though (always try them in every rifle I can) so I'm looking to reload and berdan reloading isn't my cup of tea.
