Hey, I have a Hatsan MPA TS and am wondering if since these shotguns got quite popular whether anybody like S&J or Mesa developed an AR style stock adaptor

I previously had a Mesa 870 Hi Tube set up and really liked the feel. The MPA TS isn't bad but I am not in love with the cheek weld nor grip feel or position.

Let me know what my options are if any...

Thanks

AR adapter wanted...no,

Regular 870 stock adaptor, Yes!
Lots of potential sales there. More than the Fabarm adaptor I'd say.

hmm...do Fabarm accessories fit the Hatsan.....the receiver shape looks similar

No they don't. I just wasted $67 on the S&J Fabarm adapter because the vendor I purchased it from listed it as fitting "Turkish" shotguns. I took a chance, but once I received it the packaging made no mention of fitting Turkish guns.

If there was a 870 conversion plate for Hatsan, I'd buy 3-4 of them for my Hatsans.

The biggest and well documented complaint about Hatsans is that the factory stocks are not desirable and not able to be replaced.

I like it like that... nom nom nom....

Ok so the lines aren't perfect but its close enough for what it is. The mods to the Mesa took about 3 hours with the learning curve. Would take less than half that now.

Its been a couple years since I did it but it went something like this. YOU DO NOT MODIFY THE GUN.

Obtain Mesa 870 adapter.

Obtain new longer stock bolt (I will show tomorrow evening when I take it apart for more pictures), lock washer and bolt/nut setup appropriate to your grip of choice. I got mine at Home Depot.

I chose the BCM because of the way the trigger rocks back and up. For me, the BCM had the best feel. Most increased the distance to trigger too much.

Drill out the stock bolt hole to iirc 9/16".

Dremel (you knew this was coming) with carbide bit to 'cheeks' on either side of the bolt hole to clear the stub on the receiver.

Dremel (there it is again) two pockets to clear the trigger guard.

That's all I can remember for now. Might remember more when I take it apart.

So this is what the receiver looks like once the factory stock is removed. As a beta test this is pretty crude. Most of these dimensions are not super critical. All this really does is make for larger clearances. The adapter for all intents indexes off of the trigger guard.

The receiver stub is slightly larger than a Remington 870 adapter will allow so we have to drill out the adapter to fit. The larger diameter does not interfere with the GD sockets.

Next we have to drill the receiver plate that came with the Mesa. This hole is the same size as the previous step.

Next we have to drill out the adapter for the new bolt. It is also a larger diameter than a Remington.

Next we have to carve out the area to clear the trigger guard on either side. I used a round nose carbide Dremel bit (Home Depot). If I did it again I would try the same bit but the square version.

This is the bolt and lock washer I used. Also from Home Depot.
