Hey guys

Received a new shotty that came with test fired shells. Any issues with the primer pop or dishing? The seller indicated that this is due to them being cheap shells that they test with.

Thanks

The steel looks dished in as well. +2 on a pic of the breech face. Something isn't right there. The primer is separated- I don't know what would cause that. A headspace problem doesn't seem like it would cause a problem like this. The primer strikes look heavy too.

Edit- sorry your pic got up there before I sent this!

Pretty obvious as to the crooked extruded primers problem.
Yikes, figure 8 firing pin bores.
Take it backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks to me like the shellcasing head is dished.
sure would have liked to have seen it before it was shot.
if it was dished that much beforehand, that would explain how the primer got out so far.

Additional info...in speaking further with the vendor, he offered the following...

"The guns are test fired with overcharge loads at the factory before they are shiped. The primers sticking out are due to 2 factors cheap ammo we use to test primers plus shells have only primers no powder or shot in them. Try it on live ammo you will see it is different"

Those firing pin holes are not good news!! The breech face isn't concaved around the holes though. At least not from this angle of the pics. How tight is the gun locking up? Can you move the barrels on the hinge pin(s)? Is that a Beretta receiver? Are the barrel lugs intact? Do you know if the shells were reloads? Could be any number of issues.

Locks up tight. Now that I know the test shells sent were only to test primer strike and had no charge, I took an old paper case and dumped it out to replicate.

Tested and there was minor primer extrusion but no dishing to the head.

I downloaded the picture of your receiver and straightened it upright before expanding it for a closer look. That gun has either been shot ALOT or has gone through some severe overcharge pressure issues with someones reloads by the looks of it to me. It is starting to develop a concave depression around the firing pin holes as well as primer grooving around them. Most get marking from primers on the breech face more in the form of wear from repeated use but this appears to be getting indented on the face from the primer edges. Usually a sign of tons of shooting or ammo pressure related issues. Obviously this is not a new gun and if you say it is I'd be getting a refund FAST!! When breech faces start to develop concaving around the firing pin holes and elongating of the holes it is usually a telltale sign of alot of use. There are companies such as Laib's gunsmithing who can drill and tap replacement areas on the breech face with harder metals or mill slots from top to bottom and replace the slotted area of the breech face with a new face and drill new pin holes and replace the firing pins and align them correctly but its not cheap work.

Your explanation doesn't resolve the oblong or out of round firing pin bores, holes, the inside
of circumference space the firing pins come through of.
Fruck'in firing pins need piston rings.
