None restricted black rifle

Neither does 3000$...

In my book that's a FNAR, a 700.00 Vortex scope, and half a case of Hirtenberger HP ammo...
Dead on equipment for a start, pretty accurate rig that will put a smile on your face... JP.:d

Depending on what you want it for, a JR Carbine might be your best bet.

Alternately, you could get a bolt gun in 223 for far less than $1000.

Sorry, brain fart. Yes $0.50 per round for AE and PMC level stuff. Most here know I'll never touch Norc 5.56, makes for an exciting campfire is about all I would ever use it for :nest: :stirthepot2:

Sorry for the confusion, I wish I could still find 223 that cheap.

Funny, that reminds me that I found a receipt for a bunch of 223 I bought when I got my first HK SL8-4 back when they were first available in Canada and it almost made me sick how much the price of ammo has gone up over the years.

Damn! I was getting excited for a moment! I remember the good old days too! Made in USA ammo for $180/1000!! Around 1992!
Canada Ammo had the PMCs for a darn good price a week back or so. All gone now!
Thanks anyways!

Norinco 97 , $1000..Ruger mini 14 $900 (add a few hundred for pistol grip and 10 rnd mag adapter)....Keltec SU16 $800 ( add another $300 for pistol grip and forend). VZ 58 $1000. All these are your $1000 range. They all do basically the same thing and are about 2 to 3 Moa. Your nex step up is the Tavor and XCR $2500 , better build quality but still does the same as the first bunch. Next up is the $3000 + ACR and SL8? Better accuracy but not a tac driver ( unless you call 1 ish Moa ,tac driving):)

Do tell us more about this wondrous accessory!

No offense to those that own them but in my opinion the T97, mini-14, su-16 are overpriced and not worth spending the money on, I do like the SU-16fx a little more than the standard one but still think they should be a couple hundred dollars less than they are. The VZ/CZ is closer but really isn't that much better than a $250 SKS. It is better but not $800 better.
The T97 is by far the most overpriced rifle on the market right now, no warranty, no parts, that thing should be priced like an M305. It blows my mind that people will buy one then throw another $400 worth of FTU at it.
The Mini-14 I used to own was very reliable and that's all I have good to say about it. Accuracy was horrible and mags are expensive.

Any semi auto that can group 1 moa consistently like an AR, SL8 or ACR (with the right ammo) I would consider a tack driver when compared to other semi auto's, if you throw bolt action rifles into the equation then no but my ACR will shoot tighter groups than many stock hunting rifles, granted it is 3-4 times the price so if it was just about accuracy then none of us would own a semi.

For $1000 a person needs to have realistic expectations and understand that they will be upgrading as soon as they can afford to if they are looking for a quality firearm that is capable of decent accuracy and reliability.

The FNAR should be very close to the top for precision in a SA rifle... JP.

My buddy has an FNAR heavy (SAPR) and it's very close to 1 moa but he's having trouble getting it to do it consistently. It is definitely one of the more accurate semi auto rifles available though and being a 308 is a huge plus if you plan to do any hunting with it.
Definitely a nice rifle for the money.
