I have an 870 Police Magnum with the factory +2 extension. Right now will hold six 3" shells in the mag tube with about 1/4" to spare.
If I install a S&J Hardware No-Jam follower, will it take up any extra space at the end of the tube and reduce the shell capacity?
I bought the one that is suppose to take up less room for my mossy 590. Tonight I noticed it did take up extra room, caused the 8th round to not go in, limiting my capacity by one. I took it out and polished the factory follower and im now back to 8 + 1 for capacity.
Did you try trimming a couple coils off your spring like Simon suggested?
Why not trim the extra spring that came with the follower instead, if you don't want to cut the factory one?
No I didn't as I bought two of those followers at once, and put one in my 14 inch 590A1 and it didn't affect the capacity at all, so I just put the other in my 20 inch 590 and didn't think anything of it tell yesterday when I loaded it up to try it out and noticed I lost the capacity of one round.
Not sure if I want to trim my spring, the gun has seen a quite a few rounds now and the spring is on the weaker side. A simple polish job on the stock follower did the trick anyhow, as there was nothing wrong with it before, I just figured id try out the s&J follower. Its a good product, not knocking it at all.
