Swiss Axes on sale

Those look good, thanks. Sorry if this is too off topic but since we're talking axes, some of you may also enjoy a throwing axe from Lee Valley. I got a Gransfors Bruks a few years ago and it provides hours of alternative projectile enjoyment. I've been looking around for a proper piece of wood for a target (need a ~3 foot disk from a tree) but a large dead beech tree near the cottage has worked pretty well in the meantime.

The axe is heavy duty....nearly 5lb head and beefy handle. The hatchet is handy and a little more beefy then a Wetterling.
I gave the handles a quick light sand and a coat of blo.....nice enough that I'm grabbing another set tomorrow.

You're bad for my credit card. Just ordered one, looking forward to getting it.

Just think of me as an enabler!

All this Swiss stuff is just first class, if money is to be frittered away at least let it make for good squabbling over when you are gone.

Purchased my first K31 a short while ago. Now my mature eyes need glasses and luck for good groups, but that K31 gave me a three inch group down to a 1.2 inch group, with open sights in the first twenty rounds. (@100yd) What's not to love!

Have fun and may the pile only get bigger.

Went to the store and picked mine up today. $50 for a pair of Swiss Axes (to add to the mound of axes I already have) was a deal I just couldn't pass up.

These are beefy axes, the pictures don't do them justice. One thing of note is that if you have small hands, take a pass on them - the handles are about double the thickness of an average axe handle.

But they sure as heck feel like they will never, ever break. Built "private proof" strong.

Does the paint serve a purpose?

Picked mine up yesterday, The red axe is not represented well as in the picture, It's big and a good weight (5 lbs) held in with a large wooden wedge.

Will sharpen with my files this weekend.

Nice set for the money. Needs sharpening/reprofiling.
Large one is a brute with short handle - have seen it referred to as a miner's axe.
Great set to throw in a vehicle or keep in camp but would want to be careful swinging the big one with the short handle and no knob on bottom.
Handles appears to be ash or birch rather than hickory and grain is horizontal, perpendicular to the bit.
Grabbed two sets.
