After reading one of the recent "hunting accuracy" threads where people were debating which was more useful/important...range sessions with tiny groups or cold bore consistency etc, I thought it might be interesting to try shooting five - 3 shot groups at 100 yards with at least 24 hrs between groups to see if there would be much variation from day to day.
All 5 cold bore shots were shot at the same target, then did the same with the second and third follow up shots, so we're getting an idea of this rifle's shot to shot repeatability with the chosen load on any given day.
I colored in the bullet holes with a different color after every session (see pic) to keep track of the day to day results.
I'm quite sure I "pulled" the far left shot on target 2 and far right shot on target 3.
Gotta say I'm pretty satisfied with this rifle's performance, and looking forward to taking it out this season for deer.
The rifle is a Rem 700 .308 with a new Benchmark barrel, trued and bedded action and nice trigger. Guntech did the barrel install and truing.
The load is 44.5g Varget w/ 150g Accubonds - Rem brass & CCI 200 primers. 2780 fps.
