I own brass polish, but I've never used it. I'm wondering how many of you out there have used it? Did it affect the performance of your media, causing you to change it?

I have about three thousand rounds left to polish. Wondering if I should use it, or is it a waste of time?

You don't need to use 'brass' polish, any metal cleaner+wax like NuFinish will do.
I used to use mix of corn cob and crushed walnut shell for years for media and switched to just walnut lately. Always adding NuFinish to the media.
If you wanna try NuFinish (or so), just add it, run the tumbler with lid open and break down clumps before adding brass.

now I don't know how true this is, but I heard there's ammonia in brasso and that eats brass over time- therefore I avoid it- and it's expensive as hell for your quantity

I always use it, every 3k or so, add a few drops and
run the tumbler with lid open and break down clumps before adding brass.

And don't do it with the primers removed from the brass, you'll end up picking out pieces of corn that get stuck into the open primer pocket.

You don't need to use 'brass' polish at all. Brass needs to be clean, not shiney. Wax is the last thing you want to use.

Any brass cleaner containing ammonia will make your brass more brittle and subject to splitting - I believe that the new Brasso does not have ammonia, but the original formula did. Nufinish or the Dillon formula work great.

The best polish combo I ever used is a very small scoop of jewellers rouge and about a tablespoon of paint thinner mixed into fine ground corn cob. When the mixture is fresh the brass cases come out so shiny it's hard to distinguish them from polished nickel cases. No wax build up, either.

My motto is "I'm never going to be the best shooter but I'm going to have the prettiest looking reloads." Wait till I get my powder coated bullets loaded into the polished cases. They'll have to save a spot for them in the Louvre.

I use Brasso in every tumble and clean, never an issue with any type of damage that I have seen to date. The choice is all yours, whether you want to add some polish or not.

Every product we use for any purpose I would think has a possible bad side, especially for us, but I believe if you use any product properly and in small amounts, taking care to clean all items and clean your hands, everything should be ok. Everything in moderation, with your eyes open to all possibilities should be fine for most or all products. Safety is always number one in everything you should do. IMHO
