Did anyone ever build one of those AR-15 lowers(plastic).

I was just talking to a buddy today about guns I would be hesitate to shoot and I thought of those 80% lowers. That some sponsor was selling. He didn't believe they exist or somebody would be crazy enough to fire them. So I went looking for the link and can't find it now. So I figured I would ask on here as I have no proof what so ever.

Those would be the guys I was thinking of. Do you know if any of your customers actually went through the process of building, registering and firing one?

There are tons of videos on YouTube of people building and firing these 80% poly lowers.

Why would you hesitate to use one of those? All they need is the holes drilled through them and you use a jig to do it.
Are you just afraid of them because they are polymer? There is nothing wrong with using polymer in a rifle, many modern rifles employ extensive use of polymer parts in their construction. This isn't chinese dollar store plastic toy stuff here. The lower receiver takes very little recoil force in an AR. I probably wouldn't use one for a 50 Beowulf build but for a 223, 9mm, or 300BLK build I can't see any reason not to use one.

Mostly in my mind. Irrational fears and that sort of jazz.

But I don't get to ask those people questions. Plus most would be out of the US so the registration issue/trouble(if any) they experienced would not apply. I really just wanted to know if any one had done it here and the things have been out a while so I figured it was fair to ask.

So far this thread has gone better than mine where I asked the same question. I got " those lowers are illegal, shutup about these so they don't ban them, they break very easily, ect ect"

I'm still interested in any Canadians experience on building, registering and shooting a build on these lowers.

I too would like to hear about this however I believe most of these were bought with the intentions of saving them for a rainy day.

There you go using a reasoned argument again. How are the guys who pilloried NEA for using 6061 instead of 7075 going to feel when you make a clear argument that mere plastic is sufficient for an AR receiver?
