Cmr-30?

Cant see why not. Or the cheaper option is just pin to 10 rounds. Just like the su22

22" OAL with the collapsing stock would possibly be why it'd be restricted.
Simply pin the stock.

But there's also the circuit judge BS and they could call the rifle a pistol at heart.

IMO, this gun is closer to the Buckmark rifle vs the circuit judge. The judge was a revolver with a full butt added...the Keltec (like the Buckmark) has the stock integral to the design.

I agree, I doubt they could call it a pistol too, but I'm still bitter about my squirrel shotgun being restricted.

30rds of .22mag is cool in anything.

I asked Vault about this rifle at the beginning of the year and they flat out told me no interest in bringing it in until the RDB gets in and sold out first.
I'll find the emails from the back and forth discussion and post it.

Remington 22WMR (not that I'd buy it) is about $25 a box before tax. 17HMR is barely under $20 a box for 50 rounds these days. I think those who make magnum rimfires better hope the rimfire-centric among us don't figure-out how close those prices are to .223. I appreciate both calibers for what they are, but I can hand-load primo .223 for about $0.60-$0.65 a round.

That rifle is cool though...and I'm not even a KelTec fan.

I'm thinking of picking up a .223/5.56 bolt gun for varminting. At the price of .22wmr and .17hmr... Neither will do anything that a .223/5.56 won't do better, and the cost difference for the ammo is negligible.

^it's a good choice. I have my pet .223 here I hand load for...but thinking about a possible western/gopher gun...I got a nice 17HMR but am having second thoughts about it. Recently I've been thinking about the Mossberg MVP Varmint as you can shoot 5.56 from it as well as .223. You can buy bulk 5.56 pretty cheap, and I understand that 62gr. soft points can be had as well. Add to that AR mag compatibility.... :) LAR pistol mags are 10-rounders. That's allot of varmint-dispatching power downrange for a few pennies more than 17HMR.

AND if you are lucky to have half a dozen BEOWULF mags, you have 85 rounds of .223 goodness on hand. (I can stuff 14 rounds in 5 of them, and 15 in one of them) Show me a prairie dog town that can take 85 rounds of .223!!!!!
I LOVE MY MVP.

Pretty much exactly along my thinking.

I've been considering joining the dark side and picking up an AR for service rifle competitions - my k31 is awesome in the vintage class, but I end up sitting on the bench between courses of fire forever, because I don't have anything really appropriate for Modern Open. Adding a Mossberg MVP Varmint to my gopher blaster arsenal would be a natural fit, save me money on having two seperate sets of mags. And 10 rounders for Varminting is a minimum requirement - tough to get that in a centerfire bolt.

well, the two cheapest centerfire would be teh 7.62 x25 and x39...$0.32/round vs $0.18/round (before ship/taxes). the x39 makes it close to .22 right now...but I have so much fun shooting rimfire, I'll take what meager savings it allows and shoot a bit more.

now that said, I really want this CMR-30!!!

does anyone know if it's even been submitted for authorization?

Not entirely true. You can get shot shells for a 22WMR. I have some, that being said, I'm sick of 22WMR availability and price, I paid $20 for 50 of Remington at WSS. Thinking of a bolt gun in 223, till the price goes up on that too...

When I asked Vault they told me nothing has been submitted yet for the cmr30.
So figure by the time vaults gets it, it's sent for frt verification and we know what the outcome is I'd say likely in 5-6 years :-(
