Browning 1911-380 finally out

The build quality on this gun is sub par IMHO
A friend purchased 2 of them from epps. Plastic sights. On one of the pistols the front sight broke after one mag fired. It is literally just clipped into a slot on the front of the slide.

I think Browning really did us a disservice on this one. Not worth the dollars especially considering the cost of ammo
YMMV

I just recd my 380 today, its exactly the same dimensionally as my 1911-22 browning, with some noticeable changes, 380 has cheapo plastic grips, not like the nice wood ones on the 22 (I changed them, they fit), better sights on 380 than the 22, extended controls on 380, composite frame on 380, mags fit in either, but slides don't interchange, 22 slide fits on 380 but 22 slide doesn't fit on 380 frame. Steel slide on 380, alloy on 22, arched mainspring housing on 22, flat on 380, beavertail on 380, none on 22, 380 is snappy to shoot

Iam confused? They dont interchange at all then? I was hoping maybe I could put te 380 slide on the 22 frame once I get it

Plastic frame, plastic sights = junk IMO.

If they were faithful and produced a downsized 1911 in .380 ACP with even an alloy frame to reduce weight I might be intrigued, but I draw the line at PLASTIC SIGHTS!!

edited to read............22 slide fits on 380 and racks but 380 slide wont fit on 22 frame..........

I didn't try fire it with the 22 slide on it

The 22 frame is way narrower inside the barrel channel/feed ramp area and the 380 barrel wont fit it

Darn, thanks for the info, would have loved to make a railed version of the 380, one will probably come out I imagine just like all the 22 models came out after the original design, Still waiting on my pre order from wantsalls

For all of the haters here I'll just say this ....the allure of this gun , for me anyways , is that it is as close to a prohib as I'm going to find . Having spent almost a year shooting their 1911-22 I can assure you it is a fantastic little pistol . No reason to believe that the 380 will be any different . At first I hated the sights but I hit everything I aim at , it is super lightweight , fit and finish is what it should be IMO for a gun in this price range AND I like the calibre .
I honestly thought I would never like a polymer gun but I was wrong .

I was initially interested in this pistol but the polymer frame really turned me off. I think an alloy frame with a little more weight would be good for the caliber it's shooting. But that's just me. Hope anyone who bought one is happy with it though.

The way I see, if you want a more compact, smaller caliber, Browning-made version of the 1911, why not get the real deal - Browning Hi-Power?

These pistols are considerably smaller than even a Hi Power, I can post pictures later. And yes the Hi power shares similarities with a 1911 but is still very different at the same time.
