Did anyone ever build one of those AR-15 lowers(plastic).

I emailed the RCMP firearms lab asking about the legalities of installing a restricted length barrel on a non restricted unregistered firearm and that is what I was told. This should be no different and I wouldn't go trying to make things any more complicated than it needs to be. As long as you initiate the registration process as soon as is reasonably possible using a certified firearms verifier I can't imagine how or why they would try to charge you with anything.
Get caught at the range with it and I'm sure things will go badly for you in a hurry.

If you're worried about it I would contact them directly and ask them. Other than that Suputin is probably the best source of info since he has a firearms manufacturing license.

So in other words you don't know and passed along something you heard from somebody else at sometime. In the example you mentioned above the section of law has been provided and if you change the class of a you have to report it within 30 days to the registrar. That is clear but considering this object isn't a firearm until it is that section doesn't apply or I think you would have trouble arguing it applies.

So in other words you're too f'n lazy to look into it yourself and instead come to an open internet forum looking for answers then use your paranoia to break everything down and make it some kind of conspiracy where there is no way to complete one of these perfectly legal 80% lowers?
If you're too afraid you'll be arrested the second you drill the last hole in the lower then don't buy one.
How could you possibly be expected to register it until after it is complete? As you said, it's not a firearm until it's done. How would any firearm be made if you had to register it before it was anything more than raw materials?
It's not like there isn't already an FRT number for them, all a firearms verifier would need to do is quickly inspect it and submit the single page form.
Just go buy a complete registered lower if you're worried about it.

Calm down, Don't take people too seriously on these forums. This has all been out of curiosity for me. You stated something as fact I questioned it you responded and I was a little snide. I was looking for details of someone who has walked through the process. I never even thought about the verifier until you mentioned it. Do you need a ATT the unverified firearm to the verifier. How is this all done. I never said there was a conspiracy not quite sure what that's about. I also stated there is likely some regulation dealing with this I don't know what it is & was truly hoping you did.

I went and found the form on the RCMP site for:

to apply to register all restricted firearms you
have newly imported or acquired other than by transfer since
December 1, 1998.

http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/form-formulaire/pdfs/5624-eng.pdf

However it doesn't mention the law or timelines or anything of value.

Wish to high heavens CTCS would bring in unfinished 1911 frames

I thought it was canstar you could get those through but all I can find on their website is their .50BMG?
Anyone remember who sold those? They had a nice line of very sweet 1911's and also offered a stripped fitted frame and slide

gotta keep the culture up in these parts!

Are those bolt together "mechano" type lowers still around? How did those work with needing to be registered? They are just a bunch of flat pieces of metal that you assemble.

Looks like either one would be a cook project.

Never heard of those being very common or available in Canada at all. They look interesting though.
